Vado Morse averages 10.6 points in 11 nonconference games, and 21.7 points in 9 CAA games. The day after Morse's last nonconference game, we beat John Jay, and Silverio raised his average to 12.2. Now Morse is second in the CAA with 15.6, and Silverio fell out of the top 30 with 10.4.

After not playing yesterday, Cramer and Carlos join Cooks and Simmons as players who haven't played in 75 percent of our games, so we have only six players who qualify for statistics leaders.

https://s3.amazonaws.com/sidearm.sites/ ... game23.pdf is our Game Notes.

http://stats.statbroadcast.com/broadcast/?id=368973 will have statistics.

JMU has not written a preview. Terell Strickland, who averaged 5.1 points and shot twos .708, is out for the season. Tyree Ihenacho returned from injury yesterday and played in his fifth game. He averages 3.6 points, 3.4 rebounds, and 2.6 assists in 19.4 minutes. They don't have anybody with a lot of assists. Their top six range from 26 to 48, so their ratio of most to sixth most is 1.85, and our ratio is 110/22 = 5. https://static.caasports.com/custompage ... M#team.ind has their statistics.

I did not realize that four of our players have missed at least three-quarters of the season.

Yahoo says 7.5 point favorites O/U 155.5. I wonder how realistic this will be??

Must win game to stay relevant in the regular season race. Hope we come out and play that way.

Right now not sure what to expect from this team.

I'm not saying they missed three-quarters. They haven't played three-quarters, which means they missed over one-quarter. 75 percent of 22 is 16.5. Cooks (16), Cramer (16), Carlos (16), and Simmons (7) are below that. Cooks, Cramer and Carlos will qualify after Monday if they play in the next two games. Carlos isn't among any leaders, and Cramer would re-enter the blocked shots leaders.

http://defiantlydutch.blogspot.com/2022 ... fstra.html is Jerry Beach's "I'll Be Quirky: James Madison at Hofstra." We are 13-9 for the second consecutive season, and third time in five seasons, but we only started 13-9 once before that. In his 3 Stars of the Game, which he gives a 3-2-1 point system, Burgess was the third star against Towson for his first point of the season, meaning all of our used players except for Simmons and Carlos have gotten a point from Jerry. Estrada leads by far with 41 points. Showing how few free throws we attempt, he wrote "Thursday marked the third time this season the Dutchmen have been perfect from the line while taking 10 or fewer attempts. The Dutchmen had just four such games over the previous 11 seasons." The last time I checked, we were second of 358 teams in free throw percentage, and 305th in free throws made per game. KenPom predicts us to win 82-72.

I already posted that JMU's Terell Strickland is out for the season, and Jerry big news is that Takal Molson is out for the season. He's second with 12.3 points, second with 5.2 rebounds, and first with 2.66 assists. Vado Morse, who is their leading scorer, averages 2.4 assists and could become the point guard. With Molson and Strickland out, and Tyree Lhenacho back from injury, they have eight regulars. They used five other players who have 11 to 67 minutes.

https://defiantlydutch.blogspot.com/202 ... -with.html is Jerry Beach's "James Madison's CAA goodbye filled with an avoidable bitterness."

Ray is starting, with Silverio on the bench. JMU is starting Vado Morse (guard), Terrence Edwards (guard, starting because Takal Molson is injured), Charles Falden (guard), Justin Amadi (forward), and Julien Wooden (forward). They don't have any big rebounders, as Amadi leads them with 5.6. Amadi shoots .647 with 1 made three, and sub forward Alonzo Sule shoots .609 with 5 made threes, so both of them are great at shooting twos. Morse (.372), Falden (.435), and Jalen Hodge (.457) shoot threes great, and are their only players with at least 1 three made per game. They have a great field goal percentage of .477.

Hofstra, which had five assists on 25 buckets in its loss at UNCW, and 11 assists on 26 baskets in its home loss to Towson on Thursday, has five assists on its first six FGM today. This is what I've been talking about. Move the ball, look for each other, stop with the 1-on-1 so much, and good things will happen.

Pride leads, 18-13 at the U-12 (11:44).

Odd quirk: First two media timeouts both occurring at XX:44 (15:44 and 11:44).

8 asts on 10 FG (much better), but again, 14 of the first 23 FGA from 3 when they're only 4/14 from 3, and Estrada (3/3) the only one who's attempted any FTs.

Same approach, game after game, after game.

18 of the first 29 FGA from 3... only shooting 22.2% (4/18) from 3.

Still only 3 FTA (all from Estrada( for the fourth-best FT shooting team in the nation.

Halftime. Unnecessarily in a battle, only up 31-30. Should be up something like 40-30 or better with a much smarter approach.

This team plays to its weaknesses instead of to its strengths.

The nation's second-best FT shooting team is only 3/3 at the line (all from Estrada) and only 9 FTA (going 9/9) in the past 1 1/2 games.

The nation's 205th-best 3-point shooting team coming in (33.3%), is 4/18 from 3 (12/32 FGA overall) -- 18 of the first 29 attempts were from 3.

Hofstra got worse when I started watching, and only scored 8 after Estrada's three with 9:19 left. On Hofstra's last possession, JMU grabbed the ball, Hofstra kept it from the possession arrow, but JMU will start the second half with the ball down 31-30. After Hofstra missed, JMU shot from three-fourths of the way down the court and hit the back rim in what would have been a candidate for longest lead-changing shot of the season for any team. Estrada scored 5 in the first 2:06, but only 6 after that, and his three with 9:19 left were his last points. He had 4 rebounds, but only 1 assist. Dubar scored 7, but didn't have any rebounds. Simmons scored 6 without missing, but only had 1 rebound in 10 minutes. Cooks had 5 points, 1 rebound, and 1 assist in 12 minutes. Iyiola shot 1-2 to score 2, and led us with 5 rebounds. Burgess (1 missed two), Ray (4 missed threes), and Silverio (four missed threes) did not score, and Cramer and Carlos did not play. We made 8 of 14 twos, but attempted more threes (18) than twos, and missed our last 7 threes. Ray and Burgess tied for our lead with 3 assists, and we had a great ratio of 9 assists to 4 turnovers. We had 3 blocks in the first 10:26, which is above our season average of 2.6, but none after that. Simmons (who won't play in enough games for statistics leaders) had 2 to make 5 in 8 games, and Iyiola had 1. Vado Morse made 3 threes and led JMU with 11 points. Charles Falden scored 9 by shooting 4-5. Justin Amadi did not score, at least 2 of his 3 misses were at the basket, and he had only 2 rebounds. Terrence Edwards, who averages 3.9 rebounds, leads all players with 6. JMU is ninth of 358 teams with 9.65 steals, but only had 2.

Patient, three crips passes, the second to Estrada in the post, the last from him to iyiola for an easy layup.

So where is this more often????

After JMU went up 3, we're on a 22-9 run to lead 59-49 with 10:49 left. We have 28 points in 9:11, which is almost as many as the 31 we had in the first half.

Northeastern led by 14 and leads Towson 41-33.

U-12 (10-49) with HofstraMBB up, 59-49.

After starting just 14/36, the Pride has made 10 (five layups, two jumpers, three 3-pointers) of its past 12 shots, attacking more, scoring that way and opening up the 3 better than before. Basketball is not a hard game when you play it right and when you play to your strengths.

More assists today on roughly half the amount of baskets they had in the two previous games.

Today: 17 assists on 25 FGM (with 8:01 left).

Prior two games: 16 assists on 51 FGM.

This is not rocket science. Share the ball, play together, good things happen.

Up 62-56 with 7:33 left.

Going to OT. The last minute of that game was pathetic, yet again. 3 turnovers in the last minute. Why cant we correct anything? This is so tiring. Win or lose, this was terrible.
