Those were some great times - team, coaches, games, fans.
Nice article.

I was surprised at how few points per game Villanova has allowed considering their opponents' field goal percentage and three-point field goal percentages. The reason is free throws. They have made over double the free throws than their opponents. Only including games between two Division I teams, they have allowed the second fewest free throws made per game. Elon has allowed the fewest.

Gustys could enter the CAA's Top 5 in career rebounds while on national TV. He has 1,038, Keith Rendleman in sixth had 1,055, and Samme Givens in fifth had 1,059. The most by a CAA player while Hofstra was in the CAA is 1,078 by Jamelle Hagins in fourth.

Hofstra posted a recap of Jay Wright's time here, and included a video of the entire America East Champion game against Delaware. http://www.gohofstra.com/news/2017/12/1 ... place.aspx

The video is great, but all these trips down memory lane just show how much better our program was "back in the day."

Speedy could pass, couldn't he?

I am reminded, too, of how good a player Mike Pegues was for UD.

BTW, what ever happened to Mike Brey? :)

Ouch but we're only human. He's built a nice program over there. They had been in the top 20 until recently.

BTW if Pegues was 6ft8 instead of 6ft5 we would have been in the NBA

Stubhub prices still haven't gone down for the Villanova game - wondering if you guys have purchased yet.

Trying to figure out when and where to buy.

He had 660 assists and has Hofstra's record. The most assists by a Hofstra player in the CAA is 489 by Jenkins. Green had 463 in two seasons. Chaz Williams is 25th (unless somebody passed him this season) in NCAA history with 840.

Thanks for posting, brings back great memories!

I can't believe how far Jay Wright has gone. We all knew Jay was good, and him and Speedy brought our program back from the depths, but it's just awesome to see that he's become perhaps the best coach in America.

Kudos to Jay and Mike Brey for coming back to their first schools this year to play a game, Notre Dame played at UD a few weeks back. I can't think of a better team to open our relationship with the new Coliseum with. A big prestige game for us.

One of the reasons the AE championship games were so great (and why the arena was packed): the higher-ranked team hosted the final game, on the Saturday following the AE tournament.

Another tidbit: Didn't Mike and the Mad Dog cover this game for WFAN?

Just bought tix on ticketmaster. It was a buy one get one deal. So mid court 200's and side 100's end up being $38 per ticket after all fees.
