First home contest of the year. Another early start because the game is on CBS Sports Network.

CT DUTCH ….Nothing gets by you! Looks like Towson will be the favorite….we have played them well in the past…depends on who shows up, and who’s healthy.

I don’t know if this picture is current but it shows Simmons dressed and practicing with a support on his left knee!! Yes it looks very current maybe we'll see Simmons very soon.

Yes he's on the court...but what about Cooks?

ESPN has us as 2.5 point dogs and gives us a 35.1 per cent chance og winning...prett low IMO.

Hoping to beat them by a towson. Need to follow up the JMU win with another road win. Cant continue to be inconsistent. More Simmons, less Silverio. Recipe for success.

We have played well without Cooks but would love to have the entire team healthy. When you look at who Towson has played you really are not too impressed so to be underdogs playing on their court is one thing but being given a 35% chance of winning. That doesn't seem to make much sense considering how well we have played against some good competition. W&M game excluded.

Maybe you guys no more about Simmons then I do but have no idea what he could possibly give us considering the high level that Bebe is now playing at. If you listened to the coach of JMU(post-presser) talk about HU giving us praise for being a really talented team and saying we went on the road and beat Arkansas, Duquesne, Monmouth and he went on to say that we should have beaten Houston. He said if you don't bring your A game against us there's no way you can win. He further went on to say that #35(Iyiola) played a great game was all over the court and played with such energy. He said hands down he was the MVP in this game in his opinion. Now you bring Simmons into the fold which could mean that now Cramer getting 17.5 minutes is going to get less. I want to see him get more not less because he's another kid who plays with great energy. As far as Omar is concerned he's a double edged sword. You never know what side of the blade you're going to get but can help offensively for sure. You can't give him the ball at the end of close games!

Don't necessarily believe Cramer's minutes will be cut if Simmons begins playing. They haven't used Cramer at his optimum position which would be forward. They've had to play him at backup Center behind Iyiola because there's nobody else. He should be able to get in the mix up front -give them another rebounder who can shoot a little and attack the basket. With some luck maybe Silverio's mins will take a hit.

PS-This is probably why Cramer's +/- isn't great (playing out of position - certainly not a Center

Yeah Cramer was all the rage last year and he seems to have been put on the back burner. His playing above the rim and his thunderous dunks motivates the crowd and the team. I hope it's true that he gets more minutes and plays some at the 4. It's hard to argue about the minutes for D-Stone. He's playing at a very high level. Cramer's game needs to improve beyond the ARC and also from the foul line. Maybe he gets some of Omar's minutes.

Agree Zman. Also liked what Burgess gave us against JMU. Hoping he can provide more productive minutes so we don't rely on Carlos all that much.

I love Cramer and the energy he provides but the fact is Speedy has recruited a VERY talented group of transfers. This has meant reduced playing time for guys who were starters last year.

Not a bad thing!

http://defiantlydutch.blogspot.com/2022 ... owson.html is Jerry Beach's "I'll Be Quirky: Hofstra at Towson." Our win over JMU was our eighth consecutive win that was a unicorn score, which is the first time we won by that score. We are 9-6 for both seasons that started during the pandemic, and we only started 9-6 twice before that. "It marked the first time the Dutchmen have won a game by fewer than 10 points and taken their biggest lead with their final points since Jan. 30, 2016, when Rokas Gustys hit a pair of free throws with 20 seconds left to close out a 70-64 win over Drexel." Aaron Estrada struggled in his game after being Player of the Week the first two times he won it. He has two games with at least 20 points, at least 7 rebounds, and at least 7 assists, and he is the only Hofstra player to do that twice (it did not have to be in the same season) since 2010-2011, which is as far back as the Sports Reference College Basketball Play Index goes. Charles Jenkins, Juan'ya Green, and Eli Pemberton did it us. It only includes Jenkins' senior season so he could have done it more than once. I could check old box scores, but I'm not going to. Iyiola joined Isaac Kante, Rokas Gustys, and David Imes as Hofstra players with at least 15 points and 15 rebounds since 2010-2011. Against the only common nonconference opponent, we won 77-71 at Monmouth, who beat Towson 79-71. KenPom predicts Towson to win 77-73.

https://static.caasports.com/custompage ... M#team.ind has Towson's statistics. They have used 15 players, including 9 who average at least 11.4 minutes per team game. Cameron Holden averages 14.1 points, 9.2 rebounds, 2.7 assists, and 1.5 steals. He's a forward who shoots threes well. Nicolas Timberlake averages 13.6 points and 4.7 rebounds, and he leads them with 31 made threes. Terry Nolan Jr. averages 11.5 points, 4.6 assists, and has 3.05 assists per turnover, which easily leads the CAA. Cooks has the second best ratio with 2.09. Nolan Jr. shoots all three types of shots below average. He attempts 5 threes per game and shoots them .243. Jason Gibson averages 9.9 points, Antonio Rizzuto averages 8.5, Charles Thompson averages 8.2, and Juwan Gray averages 6.8. Thompson is second on the team with 5.1 rebounds, and is third in the CAA with 1.47 blocks. The rest of the team has 14 blocks in 15 games. Chase Paar averages 3.7 points and 3.1 rebounds. Their last regular is Rahdir Hicks, who averages 1.7 points and shoots poorly. Chris Biekeu has played in 10 of 15 games, but only for 32 minutes. They shoot field goals .440, twos .494, threes .353, and free throws .697. They allow only 64.7 points, and have a rebounding margin of +6.6, both of which lead the CAA.

We are starting the same players as against JMU. Towson's surprise is that point guard Terry Nolan Jr. isn't starting. He has started every previous game except for one he did not play in. If he can't play at all, their only other player averages at least 2 assists is forward Cameron Holden. Nicolas Timberlake or Jason Gibson could be the point guard today.

Nolan Jr. (big loss for Towson) and Hicks are out tonight, each due to upper-body injuries.

Game of runs in that opening half.

Towson answered HU's 8-0 spurt with a 13-4 run. Then, 7-2 Hofstra, followed by a second 13-4 Towson run.

All added up to Towson's biggest lead, 37-28, with about 1 1/2 mins left in the half, but then 7-0 Hofstra run to close the half.

37-35, Tigers at the break.

Unaccustomed to this brand of Towson basketball this season. All of this 3-point shooting for Towson (7/15 in the half) rather than physical guys with football player builds getting a bunch of putbacks off of misses. Who are these Tigers this year?

Never seen anything like that. No regular whistles for almost half of the second half. The first one comes at 10:28 because of a Hofstra timeout. Would've probably gone well under 10 minutes before the under-16 and under-12 timeouts. Towson up, 56-48.
