Apsel brings out the broom and beats Hampton yesterday 2-1. Not as dominating in this one but gets 6 K's and gives up 7 hits. Her third straight complete game tired her a bit but she toughs it out. Now we need to sweep COC to cap the regular season.

We should also mention that we clinched a CAA playoff bid. Congrats to the entire team and staff!

Yes skipped over that and it was also senior day as we lose 7 seniors and a lot of good players. Freshman waiting in the wings though. Need pitching but Apsel is coming back so that's huge for us.

We get our 5th straight win yesterday beating COC 7-3. Charleston even though they have a dismal record battled for most of the game in part due to our somewhat sloppy fielding. Error by Wilson in left helped them get their 1st run. Also a questionable fielding play by Fitzgerald at third led to two runs scoring. She probably should have gotten an error also. Catanzarita also dropped a routine popup foul ball at first which fortunately didn't cost us. Julia pitched well in this game giving up 6 hits 3 runs (2 earned) and struck out 12. Need to play tighter D today. Lets go Pride!!

As of now it looks like a two horse race for pitcher of the year
Isabella Smith of Campbell and Apsel of Hofstra are the top pitchers
Not much separates them although Smith has an edge on Strikeouts and hits allowed per game

They have a team batting average of .296 to our .240 and have 194 RBI to our 119. We have hit 16 home runs they have only 12. They're a much better hitting team then us.

Watched the replay of that inning and kudos to us but wow that COC team has weak pitching but are far worse defensively. We got a lot of help from that infield a lot of booted balls but a great comeback win. When Apsel came in to close you see why she has been so successful this year just a dominant pitcher.

Yesterday we lose to COC 8-0 really don't show up for this game only getting two hits and not pitching Apsel saving her for the CAA tournament. She can do damage in a short series but once again we show how weak our pitching is after Apsel and without Venturini who only pitched in a few games in the beginning of the year and was ineffective. A shame but if we can score some runs and with Apsel on the mound we have a chance.

Wednesday we start tourney play against S.B. who swept us but two close games could have gone either way.

We play tomorrow's third game, which is at 5:00 P.M. If 1 seed Campbell defeats host 4 seed UNCW, UNCW will be the worse loser from tomorrow's first two games, and play us. If Campbell loses, we will face the loser of 2 seed Delaware or 3 seed Stony Brook.

Great win over SBU to knock them out of the playoffs. Hopefully Apsel can continue with her magic against Campbell.

They also have a much better hitting squad

A very frustrating game to watch. Both pitchers pitched great giving up no runs thru 8 innings. We lose this game in bottom of the 9th 1-0 a stolen base and a bloop single to right. That’s how our season ends. Apsel loses another 1-0 game just frustrating with tons of chances to score. Just couldn’t get the timely hit. Credit to our D coming up with big plays. Our offense was anemic and credit to Smith with 10k’s giving up 7 hits.

We would have needed to win a second game today, and Campbell vs. Delaware was suspended because of the weather.

I wonder how many teams have ever had at least two wins and two losses in the same conference tournament with every game being a shutout. That's what we did.

I think we were 2-2 when we lost to Jmu and Georgia State under Bill Edwards
But they were not all shutouts
Towson went 2-2last year I believe as we had to win Two games the final day

Disappointing end to the season but they played their hearts out. Just could not get a run in...hopefully next year the offense will improve.
