This was such an impressive win with Monmouth playing better basketball and having won 4 in a row but hadn't seen a team like us recently. Our D was stifling and we contested everything We had 7 blocks 14 O rebounds and 43 total. 10 more then they had and 20 second chance points. It's already a given about our offense how we have some many weapons but we're playing better D then I can remember seeing here in a lot of years. Estrada very content to dish out assists and grab boards and makes it easier for Thomas to get open looks. Dubar showed up and was playing with some real purpose in this game attacking the basket. You have to love the way it is all coming together. Lets hope we bring our A game against Drexel.

Led wire to wire, beautiful thing to watch.

Similar to the first game, where I thought Monmouth played hard for about 30 minutes then said no mas. We were locked in defensively the whole game and Monmouth couldn't hit the broad side of a barn in the first half. Offensively, the game was over at 8-0, but we didn't get out of the gate too fast. On that 16-0 run though, Carlos and Estrada were dishing like mad men. Early onions at 28-6. One of the themes in conference play has been this team's ability to lock in and work for good shots; while the game was never in doubt, I was still impressed with the shot selection in in the second half, great ball movement, the floodgates opened on the perimeter. They could have coasted, but I thought they kept working, and eventually completely broke Monmouth. Carlos and Thomas were great, Carlos was rebounding hard, Estrada despite the 7 TO's had a very strong game, 7 boards, 6 dimes, 3 blocks.

This seven game win streak has been some of the most complete basketball we have played since Jay Wright. We haven't killed teams like this since 99-00. We're playing better man to man defense. NBY and Williams have stepped up on both sides of the ball, and it's spreading out from the inside. Our depth has been huge as well. Plotkinov has been playing great, Washington has been key when we've needed guard size defensively. The 8 man rotation allows us to play matchups. Carlos has gained so much confidence in conference play and is seeing the court incredibly well, but we won the Towson game because Speedy was able to go to Washington to matchup with Towson's size. Not a luxury Hofstra has had in a very long time.

Four more lock up first place.

I am guessing you meant 2000-2001 when we were better than in 1999-2000.

Even in a blowout where we used eleven players, the bench played only 61 minutes.

In the Analytics tab, Thomas led all players in efficienncy and game score, while Dubar led in net points. The sum of the net points was extremely low.

Drexel missed a three to win in regulation, went down 4 in overtime, and ended on an 11-2 run to win 73-66 hosting Towson. Towson was led by Cameron Holden, but he did not shoot well. He had 25 points, 7 rebounds, and 4 assists. Lamar Oden Jr. led Drexel with 19 points and 12 rebounds. Drexel made 20 of 21 free throws.

Elon won 66-55 hosting William & Mary. Max Mackinnon led all players with 22 points and 9 rebounds, and he had 3 assists, and shot well. William & Mary's top two scorers were from the bench. Tyler Rice scored 13, and Miguel Ayesa scored 12, all of which were from shooting threes 4-10.

Stony Brook won 69-59 hosting North Carolina A&T. Stony Brook had balanced scoring. Tyler Stephenson-Moore and Keenad Fitzmorris scored 14, and Frankie Policelli and Tanahj Pettway scored 12. Stephenson-Moore shot 3-14 and had 7 turnovers, so Estrada did not have sole possession of most turnovers by a Long Island player today. Policelli had 11 rebounds, and the only double-double for either team. Kam Woods led North Carolina A&T with 18 points and 4 assists, and was second on his team with 7 rebounds.

Hampton shockingly led 27-12 hosting Charleston, but in the next 7:03 Charleston went on a 30-8 run with more than 4 points per minute during that span. Hampton made a three at the buzzer to trail 43-41 at halftime. Charleston led by as much as 15, and won 83-70. I wonder what the previous CAA game in which both teams led by at least 15 was.

Northeastern scored 20 in the first half at UNCW, and trailed by 13. Northeastern outscored UNCW by 1 in the second half, and UNCW won 71-59. Northeastern committed 30 fouls. Chris Doherty fouled out in 16 minutes including getting a technical, and four of his teammates had 4 fouls. Each team made only 3 threes. UNCW's Trazarien White led all players with 23 points, and tied with teammate Amari Kelly for the most rebounds on either team with 7. Kelly and Shykeim Phillips scored 14, but Kelly did not miss a field goal, and Phillips shot 3-10 without attempting a three. The assist/turnover ratio was horrible for both teams, with 4/12 = 0.33 for UNCW, and 5/19 = 0.26 for Northeastern. Northeastern had 1 more rebound, but did not have anybody with more than 5 rebounds. Northeastern committed 19 turnovers. Jahmyl Telfort led them with 18 points.

Here are the standings:

1. Hofstra: 12-2
2. Charleston: 12-2
3. UNCW: 10-4
4. Towson: 9-4
5. Drexel: 9-5
6. North Carolina A&T: 7-7
7. Stony Brook: 5-8
8 through 12. Northeastern, Delaware, Elon, William & Mary, and Monmouth: 4-9
13. Hampton: 3-10

Part of that might be because some of the CAA competition this year hasn't been as close to the America East was back then since that time. But hey, especially in the CAA, good teams struggle and even lose to teams like that. It's to Hofstra's credit (Speedy, staff, players, everyone included) that since those final 10 minutes against NC A&T, they have taken nothing for granted and have kept their foot on the pedal. Do that for seven more games and it's mission accomplished.

FYI, SNY is showing the full game tonight at 9:00. Yesterday's coverage began late due to the women's game on before.

HU is doing what they should be doing at this time of the season with the talent they have: beating teams they are better than. Wags has done a good job of showcasing HU's margin of victory in their CAA wins - it's definitely impressive.

Let's not pretend like the CAA isn't awful - the level of competition is putrid outside of 3-4 teams. But that's not HU's fault - it's still positive momentum and buildup for this team.

Love seeing this team continuing to put their foot on the gas. Don't let up. 4 games left, go out there and crush them.

Then it's the most important time of the entire season. Having regular season momentum isn't all it takes, but it certainly doesn't hurt. Keep TCB, and then turn up the wick just a bit more in DC.
