So as we all know we only lose Sabrina Bryan to graduation this year. We get both Lucys back so this team will still be loaded for next year. Curious to see how Northeastern does against UNCW. Both are good defensive teams.

Both Northeastern and UNCW have been very competitive against us in recent seasons so hard to say who I would rather play, but of course first things first need to take care of business against Elon. Northeastern is 50th in latest RPI compared to UNCW at 103 so would be better for at-large purposes to lose to the Huskies though.

Hofstra remains 12th in latest RPI and Northeastern up to 44th.

Here are all the times we scored at least 7 goals in reverse chronological order:

7-2 hosting Towson on April 10, 2021
9-1 vs. Indiana State in the West Virginia University 90 Minute Classic on September 7, 2014
7-1 vs. Fordham on September 14, 2005
7-1 vs. Eastern Michigan on August 30, 2002
7-0 vs. Wagner in Game 5 of 1998, Hofstra doesn't have the date
7-0 at Long Island University in Game 4 of 1997, Hofstra doesn't have the date
9-0 at Drexel in Game 5 of 1994, Hofstra doesn't have the date
1992 as a club team four times

Saturday was the second time we scored at least 7 against a conference opponent and first time since 1994. Saturday was the first time we scored at least 7 and allowed at least 2 while not a club team. We beat Concordia 7-2 as a club team. It was our 542nd game while not a club team.

Great stuff Evan. Is surprising only seven goals twice in Simon era (since 2006) considering the many amazing teams we have had.

Congratulations to our women's team and coaches on receiving four of the top six CAA awards:

Our gals suffered a tough 1-0 loss to Elon despite being the dominant team. Their goalie stopped all 8 shots on goal, while they converted 1 of their 2 chances. The men prevailed 4-2 over UNCW in a tighter contest. Soccer can be a cruel sport. Let's hope the ladies get a wild card. They deserve it and can do some damage if selected.

Extremely disappointing and crushing 1-0 loss to Elon in semifinals that may have ended our season and the amazing career of Sabrina Bryan. We will be discussion for an at-large at 7-1-1, but my fear is that with field only 48 teams this season instead of 64 we will be squeezed out.

Elon shot off the crossbar and scored on the rebound. In the last minute, Marlene Fries shot wide. http://stats.statbroadcast.com/broadcast/?id=348993 has statistics.

We were 12th in the RPI, and we have more of a reputation (which shouldn't matter, but it might) than the 2005-2006 snubbed Men's Basketball team.

Today's loss will sink our RPI into high 20s probably, but hopefully NCAA committee uses eye test this year more than normal.

With only 24 teams we are toast. Only possible way was a close loss in the championship game. Sad to see Sabrina Bryans career end this way

First Elon beats the men's basketball team in the semi's and now our highly acclaimed women's soccer team loses to them. This just seems very bizarre and I thought if any team was going to win the CAA easily it would be our women's soccer team. Tough, tough loss for Simon and the ladies. You can never take anything for granted.

Early 2021 Women's Soccer

Post by HofstraPride1 »

History shows that NCAA doesn’t given benefit of doubt to midmajors like Hofstra and goes for the power 5 teams on bubble instead. Let’s hope this year is different. We got at-large bids in 2010 and 2015 bur those were 64-team fields

We missed the tournament. https://www.ncaa.com/rankings/soccer-wo ... soccer-rpi has the RPI and says it's through April 16, which was Friday, so some teams played after that but not us. We were 31st. High Point was 10-0 until they lost the Big South Final to Campbell, and High Point did not get an at-large while being 13th in the RPI.

On Wednesday April 28 at 3:00 P.M., Elon will play Milwaukee, who is 28th in the RPI. If they win, they will face 1 seed Florida State.

Very frustrating but not surprising given only 48 team field this year. A real shame since this team could have made some noise, but we took situation out of our control when dropping that CAA semifinal and unfortunately this year there was basically no margin for error. We return all but one senior in fall, but this one will always sting.
