Good question - not sure if he's maybe sick/hurt (haven't heard anything) or if it's just tightening up the rotation for the tourney, but wouldn't hurt to throw him in there for a bit.

When Hofstra MBB posted on instagram their practice last Thursday at the Mack they took snapshots of every player practicing and Masic wasn’t shown. Have to think he’s not there.

Halftime with Hofstra leading Elon 34-33.

Ray (11 pts), Kante (10 pts) and Burgess (9 pts) led the way for HU. Good balance for the Phoenix with seven different scorers.

Hofstra has now been a part of 14 ties and 27 lead changes in the first halves of their two games in this tourney.

5 ties, 10 lead changes in the first half tonight. Yesterday, 9 ties and 17 lead changes in the first half.

Have to limit second-chance opportunities - that's saving Elon right now. They have an 8-0 edge in that category.

Not too much, but could be a bit of a spark. Biggest thing now is still the 2nd-Chance Points... 8-0 at halftime, now 12-0, Elon in a tie game.

Where is the rebounding??? Kante and Cramer getting consistently beat. Those 2nd chance points are making a huge difference

Getting worked, Elon wants it way more. So much for my Kante rebounding comment, we're getting bullied on the boards.

17-1 advantage in FTA yet down 7 to the 8 seed. Should. Not. Happen.

This sucked. Farrelly got nothing out of these guys. Lazy play. No flow.

Masic isn’t even at the game. Watching from home. Just saw on his IG.

Not to mention the flat out embarrassing rebound margin, and amount of 3s we’ve given up, with many being wide open.

At least we can blame our team for playing like crap instead of blaming the refs, a la JMU.

Like I said before, be careful what you wish for with Elon. They have some magic going - but mainly, they are extremely hungry. Sometimes, in college hoops, it just comes down to confidence and heart. Elon has those in spades right now.

Elon shot field goals 30-70. The last three times we lost a regulation game in which our opponent attempted at least 70 field goals were all by at least 13 points to Elon, and they were home, away, and neutral. In the last eleven seasons, which includes before Elon joined the CAA, Elon had three regulation wins over Hofstra with at least 70 field goal attempts, and the rest of the CAA has one win, which was Northeastern.

Terrible coaching job tonight, got outworked in every aspect of the game. Congrats to Elon for a gutty performance.

That was awful. Totally out coached. Elon had a plan. We barely showed up. Thought Truehart could have helped on the perimeter defense with his height, but everything was awful.

Interesting. Curious - how many offensive rebounds and second-chance points did Elon have in those other games? Comparable at all to tonight?

Just like we could point to other very valid reasons why they won yesterday but the overriding reason they won, by far, was Ray, tonight there were a number of reasons for the loss, but the primary one was the one above. This is why I was hoping for JMU. Elon has been hungry and confident for the past seven games and tonight simply wanted it more. Some of it is that HU's zone allows for giving up those types of offensive boards off of misses, but a lot of it was just effort and hunger, making sure the defensive rebound is secured. Kante actually pulled down a defensive board like that with force, toward the end, when there was still a chance. And I said, "Finally! But where has that been from him or anyone else all game?" That mainly just wasn't there tonight. Even with that, it was 55-54, but then the 21-4 run to close. Bottom line though, confidence and hunger can snowball quickly and to great degrees in March. It's happened so many times for so many teams. We saw that with Mason and especially VCU with their Final Four runs. It's like catching magic or lightning in a bottle for a certain period of time. For Elon, that started in February and continued tonight. Champions end that kind of Cinderella run though, they don't become the next victim. We'll see what Drexel or Northeastern does tomorrow with the CAA team no one wants to play right now.
