Guess Our 2019-2020 Attendance Rank

Post by EvanJ »

In 2019-2020, our average attendance was 2,837. There were 353 teams in Division I, so 177th was the median. Guess our rank. Considering the quality of the team, opponents, and location, what rank would you say we deserved?

I'll venture a guess.

Based on back to back CAA championships, yet knowing we are not a "big time" sports school, I would say we "deserve to be around 100-125.

My guess, however, is that we are closer to the medium, around 175.

I’m guessing the 200-225 range.

If I count Top 150 as 10 percent above 150th, meaning 135th, and I count 200 to 225 as 212.5, the mean of the four guesses was 166th. We were 155th. Hampton was 125th with 3,764, and our 2,837 was 927 fewer than that.

Weighting them equally regardless of how many home games they played, former CAA teams GMU, ODU, and VCU averaged 5,782 2/3, which was 2.07 times our average. GSU also left, but their attendance was much worse than the other three. Their highest average in eight seasons in the CAA was 1,537. They averaged 1,947 in 2019-2020.

Is this topic intended to be ironic, because this year, everyone's attendance is basically zero?

It's about last season. It's not intended to be ironic. Even if there were fans this season, I wouldn't be posting attendance ranks at this point.
