I also think Joe should have been named coach of the year, with what he did after losing an NBA player and our two top bugs. We won the league and has the conference's signature win of the year vs. UCLA...Virginia bias is back in the CAA!
I think two things hurt Joe for the award this year: 1) He won it last year. Unlike the two-time POY awards we see, I think voters like to spread the COY award around, and 2) The spots where HU and W&M were picked along with Fischer's first year. HU was picked first and couldn't overachieve even by finishing first, as they did. But Fischer, as a rookie head coach, took a team picked 7th and finished 2nd. Voters lo e those kinds of stories.
