2017-2018 CAA Men's Basketball Teams's Best and Worst Games

Post by EvanJ »

http://www.kpisports.net/d-i_mbb/2018kpi-d1mbb/ is the 2017-2018 Kevin Pauga Index. I know that we are closer to the start of 2018-2019 than the end of 2017-2018, but I'm posting this. It's easy to look at a team's best RPI win and worst RPI loss. Some websites list good wins and bad losses, but only for teams who could get at-large bids, which normally excludes the CAA. This ranking lists every team's best and worst game. Here are the CAA teams in Kevin Pauga Index order, with B meaning Best and W meaning Worst:

78. Northeastern: B- Vermont at .61, W- Drexel at -.36
90. College of Charleston: B- Northeastern at .61, W- Cal Poly at -.66
112. William & Mary: B- Old Dominion at .62, W- Drexel at -.50
146. Hofstra: B- Northeastern at .66, W- Siena at -.58
164. Towson: B- College of Charleston at .57, W- James Madison at -.60
212. Elon: B- College of Charleston at .56, W- James Madison at -.61
213. Delaware: B- Richmond at .24, W- Drexel at -.37
218. Drexel: B- Houston at .75, W- Loyola (Maryland) at -.60
235. UNC Wilmington: B- Hofstra at .39, W- Howard at -.77
256. James Madison: B- Towson at .35, L- The Citadel at -.49

Drexel had the best game in the CAA, and it was the 181st best in Division I. 6 of the Best games and 5 of the Worst games were against CAA teams. Here are the times when CAA teams were the best game or worst game by an out of conference opponent:

College of Charleston: B for Cal Poly at .57
Drexel: W for Houston at -.44 and W for La Salle at -.48
Elon: W for Indiana State at -.39
Hofstra: B for Manhattan at .47 and B for Siena at .37
William & Mary: B for High Point at .44

Some games are in both sets. The best game for the winning team may or may not be the worst game for the losing team. Hofstra was the only CAA team to have two out of conference opponents have their best games against them.
