Myself and many others were for going after Cluess instead of signed an obscure alcoholic.

Who are u referring to as an obscure alcoholic?? If that reference is for Tim Welsh his coaching record while head coach at Iona was 70-22 @.761 winning percentage. He was an asst. coach at Florida State,Syracuse, Iona and Providence. I don't think he was exactly an obscure coach and I don't know about calling him an alcoholic sounds slanderous that comment unless you're privy to inside info. on him??

That coach vacancy for us has sailed and our current coach whether we like it or not will be here for a while with all due respect to him he has taken over a program that pretty much had bottomed out and helped to turn it around in short order. We were a 3 point shot away from going to the finals in 2014-2015 in a double o/t loss and we lost the championship game the following year after finishing first in the conference also in o/t. We have had two p/o/y during his short tenure here. He is not without his faults and we have exhausted talking about his lack of defensive discipline in his coaching methods but give this man credit where credit is due. He deserves it!

Contract extension through next year only?

That's not exactly a long-term commitment given what Iona has accomplished under Cluess.

Wags I think that story was written in 2014 or 2015. The extension was for four years thru to 2018-2019

Ha, sorry! I didn't look. Yeah, 2014. I thought it was new since it was just posted in this thread now. I THOUGHT that wouldn't have made sense to only give him one more year for now.

Waste of energy with Cluess...

BUT as I've said, there will be an opportunity for someone to cash in on Grasso in the near future. Grabbing Iona's AD would be an excellent door opener if that is ever a desire.

Grasso is a recruiter pure and simple...didn't he have a shot at Fordham for a year? He and Cluess make a great TEAM at Iona with Grasso doing the RECRUITING.
