Hofstra Players In 2017-2018 CAA Awards
Re: Hofstra Players In 2017-2018 CAA Awards
WANTED him badly - would've been a HUGE upgrade over what fills that position here now.
Re: Hofstra Players In 2017-2018 CAA Awards
Jalen Ray picked up his second Rookie of the Week award after going 8/14 from the floor (including 5/10 from 3) in the wins over JMU and Towson last week.
Great timing, just ahead of the tourney. Maybe one additional piece to truly count on in Charleston.

He only played a handful of games early in the season due to a shoulder injury in his last year with Charleston. But he was the best player on that team that year and would have been a first or second all-CAA team player.triplec2195 wrote:I know Canyon Barry got plenty of playing time at Florida and my recollection is that they were a top 20 team. I don't remember him being a stand out player in the CAA. I know he was a good player but stand out??

Congrats to Jalen, he has become a real spark off the bench and looks like the heir apparent to JWF down the road.

My first thought when I read your post - was "heir apparent" don't rush JFW out the door - then I thought wow JFW is senior next year - ahhhh that went way to fast.HUSID74 wrote:Congrats to Jalen, he has become a real spark off the bench and looks like the heir apparent to JWF down the road.

There is no Awards dinner this year...I would think the Awards would be announced sometime this week...probably Wed or Thurs.

Pusica deserves it, he's been on fire. I'd love to see JWF on the 1st team, Pemba 2nd, Rok 3rd. All three stepped up their games in conference play significantly.
Ray should be on the rookie team too. Overall a great year for our guys, they deserve some individual accolades.

I'm in the Justin camp and believe he deserves to win such a complete and exciting player but all due respect to Pusica who certainly has very impressive numbers!!Flying Dutchmen wrote:Pusica deserves it, he's been on fire. Yep, same camp here triplec!! But hey, we are biased
No knock against the other kid, has been a super transfer for NU.
That said, I hope JWF takes this as FUEL, has a HUGE chip on his shoulder, and plays with an absolute vengeance in this tourney. Time to show 'em whats up Justin, make them wrong!

Yes biased but this kid has crazy game! We need to be balanced in this tourney this is how we have been winning down the stretch spreading it out a very tough challenge for any defense.Polito wrote:Yep, same camp here triplec!! But hey, we are biased

Pusica helping NU get a share of the regular season title will probably be a difference maker for him over JWF. If so, I have no problem with that. It's not just the numbers, you have to make your team better (although Jenkins did win POY with Hofstra finishing 7th one year... that was an aberration though - he was such a clear-cut choice relative to all other candidates that season, even on a 7th-place team).triplec2195 wrote:I'm in the Justin camp and believe he deserves to win such a complete and exciting player but all due respect to Pusica who certainly has very impressive numbers!!Flying Dutchmen wrote:Pusica deserves it, he's been on fire.
