2017-2018 Men's Basketball New York RPI Ratings
I want to post this at least once a week. I'm using New York state rather than the New York City area because the former can't have a debate about what teams should be included. There are 22 teams in New York, and they are in 10 conferences:
1. Buffalo (29)
2. Syracuse (43)
3. Saint Bonaventure (48)
4. Hofstra (83)
5. Saint John's (93)
6. Iona (119)
7. Canisius (123)
8. Wagner (140)
9. Albany (150)
The NCAA median of 176 is here.
10. Niagara (185)
11. Army (198)
12. Stony Brook (217)
13. Manhattan (221)
14. Cornell (224)
15. Colgate (232)

18. Long Island University-Brooklyn (281)
19. St. Francis (285)
20. Columbia (286)
21. Binghamton (303)
22. Marist (326)
The MAAC has 6; the America East and Northeast have 3; and the Atlantic 10, Ivy League, and Patriot League have 2. The Big East, ACC, Mid-American, and CAA have 1. Of the six conferences with at least 2 teams, all of them have at least 1 team in the bottom half of the RPI.

Nice to be towards the top half but too bad we are 1-2 verse other NY teams.
Re: 2017-2018 Men's Basketball New York RPI Ratings
Kind of corroborates my thoughts- this team should win NOW
Re: 2017-2018 Men's Basketball New York RPI Ratings
This is nice...provides some perspective...we are the fourth BEST team in the STATE! Pretty Cool! I'll bet if you took a survey of college hoops fans in the State, we would never rank that high!

St Johns lost what 8 in a row and still ahead of us?
Re: 2017-2018 Men's Basketball New York RPI Ratings
What list are you reading? I see them listed behind us in fifth.bobe13 wrote:St Johns lost what 8 in a row and still ahead of us?

We have 2 wins against New York teams, Army and Stony Brook.HofstraMathew wrote: Nice to be towards the top half but too bad we are 1-2 verse other NY teams.
We fell ten spots to 93rd because our opponents went 1-4 yesterday. Saint John's passed us and we passed them back. Saint John's has lost their last 9, which started with their first Big East game, but their strength of schedule is 9th and could get better. 9 of their remaining 10 games are against teams in the top 46 of the RPI. On January 30, February 3, and February 7 they have consecutive games against the top 3 of the RPI in Xavier, Duke, and Villanova.bobe13 wrote: St Johns lost what 8 in a row and still ahead of us?
Re: 2017-2018 Men's Basketball New York RPI Ratings
You know the seven teams in New York City are bad when the team with the best RPI (Wagner) is in the worst of the five conferences with teams in New York City (Big East, Atlantic 10, Northeast, Metro Atlantic Athletic, and Ivy League), and that team has a 16 seed in ESPN, NBC Sports, and CBS Sports.

The NEC is the 27th ranked conference out of 32. This appears to be an easy ticket to punch in this league! Lots of really weak teams!HUSID74 wrote:Wagner is quietly having a good year. Should win the NEC and go to the NCAA's

Gross.
Then again, can always be worse! As FD noted, Bing is one of those programs that seems to be a total disaster nearly every year. How in the world they haven't folded that program I do not know...
