Game 17 at Towson

Post by HUSID74 »

How about we look ahead on these boards for a change. ESPN has us as 6.5 point underdogs. Towson beat Charleston soundly at home in their last CAA game.

Home court advantage is getting them 4/5 probably so aside from that a relatively close point spread. We were 9 point favorites at home to Madison and we were lucky to win that game. I don't care much about how other teams played against each other in this league and using that as some kind of measuring stick for a totally different matchup. Using that logic since we beat NE on the road we should have had no problem handling Elon at home right since they lost to NE?? We all are aware that every game comes down to matchups and of course maybe which team is hungrier etc. I'll talk strictly from my memory without looking at last years box scores but their freshman guard came off the bench and did damage. That would be Zane Martin at 18 + per and Mike Morsell at 12+ per game is a guy we need to contain. We somehow let guys score 10-15 over their APG then wonder why we lose.As Always EP has to score and JWF do his thing with hopefully some "D""keeping fingers crossed!

I'm not saying the Sagarin is right, but Sagarin has home court worth 3.22. The line moved today and we're now 5 point underdogs. The biggest line in the CAA is William & Mary by 8 hosting James Madison. Elon is only favored by 7 hosting UNC Wilmington. The betting line is normally closer to the Sagarin than it is for those games.

FYI Drexel at Delaware will be on SNY at 7:00 P.M., which is one of three televised games (all at Delaware) in this area. Northeastern has games on NESN Plus.

Edit: http://stats.statbroadcast.com/broadcast/?id=190373 will have statistics.

https://portal.stretchinternet.com/tows ... Type=video will have video.

http://gohofstra.com/news/2018/1/8/mens ... ath=mbball is Hofstra's preview.

https://s3.amazonaws.com/sidearm.sites/ ... game17.pdf is Hofstra's Game Notes.

http://www.towsontigers.com/news/2018/1 ... ath=mbball is Towson's preview.

https://s3.amazonaws.com/sidearm.sites/ ... a11118.pdf is Towson's Game Notes.

Edit: http://defiantlydutch.blogspot.com/2018 ... owson.html is Jerry Beach's preview. Our lost to Elon was the first time since at least 2010-2011 that a team had a player with 30 points and a player with 20 rebounds and lost in regulation. The player with 30 points and the player with 20 rebounds can be the same or different. In the five times since 2010-2011 it happened in overtime games, one player had at least 30 points and at least 20 rebounds twice and the points and rebounds came from different players three times.

Interesting that ST gets the start over JA at forward. DB is starting at guard over KW.

It's ST's first start. DB starts over KW. Towson is starting Zane Martin (guard), Brian Starr (guard), Mike Morsell (guard), Eddie Keith II (forward), and Alex Thomas (forward) http://static.caasports.com/custompages ... m#team.ind has Towson's statistics.

Edit: Martin is a sophomore, Keith II is a junior, and the other three Towson starters are seniors.

Edit: Towson leads 10-7. Buie, who averages 1.1 rebounds, has 2 in under 5 minutes.

Edit: With 11:45 left in the first half, it's 15-15. Towson led by as much as 6. Hofstra hasn't led. Hofstra has 9 rebounds with none by Gustys!

Edit: Hofstra blew a 4 point lead. Two media timeouts after it was 15-15, it's 30-30. Wright-Foreman has 13. Hofstra made 6 out of 12 three-pointers. Gustys has 2 rebounds, and his first one was almost a third of the way through the game with 6:50 left in the half. Hofstra has the only 6 second chance points. Pemberton made 2 free throws to go up 32-30.

HU playing ok and up by 5 with less than 2 minutes left. HU plays like a high school team for the next 90 seconds and ends the half down by 5 :o

Towson is on a 10-0 run to go up 43-38. Hofstra made 8 three-pointers (out of 15), which is more than the 6 Hofstra attempted. Towson made 13 out of 18 two-pointers (.722) and 11 out of 13 free throws (.846). Hofstra has 2 more rebounds and 2 more turnovers. Towson doesn't have an offensive rebound. Towson's season-low is 6 offensive rebounds, and the fewest offensive rebounds by a Hofstra opponent is 4. James Madison doesn't have an offensive rebound either, and they're winning 45-28 at William & Mary! Matt Lewis has 19 points with only 1 missed shot for James Madison.

no, certainly not boring HUSID74.
but maybe - our offense keeps us in games and our defense keeps our opponents in the same game - or - we are consistently inconsistant

Pemberton got fouled in the act of shooting and shot free throws with the announcer repeatedly calling him Wright-Foreman.

No one on either team can breathe without getting called for a foul right now.
