Nice. Good job by Hofstra stepping up.
Re: Presidential Debate
For the eleven presidential elections from 1976 (that's how far back I found information for) through 2016, Hofstra will host the second most times. Only Washington University in St. Louis has hosted more.

Awesome news! Will be amazing opportunity to get Hofstra name out there on international stage both on TV and social media. This debate may set record for most watched perhaps. I have some slight concerns about protesters due to rhetoric of campain, but I think Hofstra and Nassau County Police will be more than up to the task, esp. since as a private school we can limit access to campus that day.

Re: Presidential Debate
Hofstra is showing what a great university we really are, by allowing 15 Wright State students to attend the debate at HU.

WSU had to withdraw primarily for financial reasons. Hofstra spent several million to host in 2008 and 2012, I assume we'll have no problem getting that kind of money in only 2 months with the donors we have.
As far as protesters, I was on campus for the debate in 2012. I remember watching the protesters from the unispan (North Campus was completely closed off for security reasons, but the unispan was still accessible, the door was just locked to the academic side of campus) and they completely lined Hempstead Turnpile on both sides, it was insane. I have feeling it will be even crazier, especially with NY being the home state of both candidates.

Re: Presidential Debate
Meanwhile, neither candidate comes in that way. But go ahead, protest away out there, people.
Re: Presidential Debate
I love this and this particular debate is going to be EPIC lolol
Fantastic for HU - 3 in a row is extremely impressive, and the natural embedded marketing for the U from an international event like this makes an impact beyond what any typical campaign could reach

Re: Presidential Debate
Thanks to 3 very generous alums, we already have the $5 million we needed for this debate. That took about a week and half. In comparison, Wright State only had about $3 million and that was over the course of almost a year. Per CBS NY, Hofstra doesn't have to dip into any tuition money.
In my opinion, the debate is priceless for the publicity it brings the school. In 2008 and 2012, applications skyrocketed, and Hofstra was one of the most searched terms on Google the day of the debate. Hofstra was also trending nationally on Twitter.

Re: Presidential Debate
The bookstore has some very nice long-sleeve t-shirts that say "Debate 2016, September 26" for only $20. Also some debate baseball caps.
Re: Presidential Debate
Hillary Clinton has pneumonia. I hope she's healthy enough to debate in two weeks.

Re: Presidential Debate
A couple interesting things now that we're less than a week away from the debate. Friends on campus have said that secret service is notably all over campus, and there's an extra fence that was constructed all around campus essentially creating a wall to keep protesters out. Media started arriving on campus today and have already interviewed several students. Gary Johnson supporters are upset that he is not participating in the debate and have taken to leaving 1 star reviews on Hofstra's Facebook page and fighting with students about it, even though the university has absolutely no say in who participates, one article indicated there were over 500 posts in just over a day. Things are only going to get even crazier as the days go by. Hillary Clinton wrote an op-ed piece special for the Hofstra Chronicle, pretty to have someone of her standing write for our school paper, regardless of political affiliation.

Did Trump say he would make Mexico pay for THIS wall?ProudofPride wrote:A couple interesting things now that we're less than a week away from the debate. No its the wall that Hilary said She would never build because that would be not being inclusive. As Regan said Mr________ tear down that wall.

Re: Presidential Debate
Hofstra is literally the focus of virtually every media source in the country, as well as many international sources. Hofstra WBB alum Liane Murphy tweeted a picture of some pre-debate coverage she's watching all the way in France! Different channels throughout the whole day have been broadcasting live on campus, showing very excited students in the background. No matter what this costs us to host, can't argue with the publicity it brings as, there were several tweets referring to it as a "College Game Day"-like atmosphere. The students from Wright State are there as well, they all got to meet President Rabinowitz. You do not have the required permissions to view the files attached to this post.

Atta Boy Roc! Now on a downer note. Listened to Curtis and Kuby on 770AM and they were trashing the school.

Hofstra is being investigated for charging journalists $200 to use wifi, and blocking their personal hotspot signals.
