Bruce Beck interviewed Coach Steve Pikiell and Jameel Warney on NBC Sports Extra last night:

KenPom has SBU at 54 and HU at 83 today. Plus SBU has the nation's longest winning streak (17 games and growing). Lots of press for the Seawolves, no matter how weak their schedule.

http://warrennolan.com/basketball/2016/npi is Warren Nolan's Nolan Power Index (NPI), which is favorable to mid-majors. It has Stony Brook in 12th, ahead of every team in the Southeastern Conference and Pacific 12!

SBU's streak is most likely about to end. Albany is up 11 with 2:44 to go.

"4. Because the top-10 frenzy and fluctuation suggest an off-the-radar squad could reach Houston and win there
So, Stony Brook called and …"

I wonder what is the farthest a team has gone in their first NCAA Tournament appearance. I think it was Florida Gulf Coast's first NCAA Tournament appearance in 2013 when they reached the Sweet 16.

Hartford just upset Albany on the road in the AE tourney, which means now Albany can't stick with the tradition of beating Stony Brook in the championship game. SBU struggled at home tonight against UMBC, the game was much closer than the 10 points they won by.

Not to worry they still have a dangerous game against the other side of the bracket in Vermont or New hampshire.

Vermont beat SBU by 15 at SBU just a couple weeks ago. This is a very dangerous game for SBU.

Stony Brook came back from down 15 with 15 minutes left to win 80-74, which was their largest lead of the game. Jameel Warney scored 43. The last Hofstra player to score at least 43 was when Demetrius Dudley scored 44 late in the 1992-1993 season.
