Duke Could End Their Streak Of Being Ranked In 167 Polls

Post by EvanJ »

Miami (FL) just beat Duke 80-69, making Duke 4-4 in the ACC, which is their worst start in the ACC since 1995-1996. Miami was favored by 4. Duke entered the day ranked Number 24. Duke has been ranked in 167 consecutive AP Polls. There are CAA connections as Miami is coached by former George Mason coach Jim Larranaga, and the last team to defeat Duke and knock Duke out of the AP Poll was Virginia Commonwealth in the 2007 NCAA Tournament. The last time Duke wasn't ranked was in 2006-2007's final poll. Duke is 26th in the RPI, and their best RPI win is against Indiana, who is 41st in the RPI.

I have to correct myself. The AP does not make a poll after the postseason, and the last time Duke wasn't ranked was before their 2007 loss to Virginia Commonwealth, not after.
