Nice write up...reporter seemed pretty optimistic about this year's team and our chances...nice to see!

The team had an extra body in practice today, as the CAA commissioner took the court.

News 12 had a feature on Gustys, just too bad they pronounced his last name wrong.

Whoever checked today's Newsday-Stony Brook has full page coverage and we get about an inch after write-up on Stony brook. Aren't we
supposed to have a pr guy who is supposed to take care of that?

Newsday must b e getting paid by Stony Brook! Did you read the story??? It sounds like they beat Mich St....heroic effort, played tough, and on and on!
Our game was late but that shouldn't have prevented better coverage in the online version but there was NOTHING! If I'm Hofstra I would throw a s___t fit!

We should all write in to the Sports section...I was thinking of emailing the writer but that would do no good.

They are the WORST.

Been saying for YEARS to boycott them folks. I haven't paid for their paper in at least a decade, and I refuse to register/sign-in to read their online content, which is weak anyway.

Wife and I switched to Verizon FIOS this year and so far couldn't be happier.

*Disclaimer: Still use Optimum though, as I think their internet is a strong service. Oh well, can't win em all! :P

If we comment on the stories they produce online maybe it will have some impact...their college sports coverage is totally biased!

It's absolutely biased, and it also happens to be very weak.

Never seen a metro area so focused on HS sports before - that is something for rural areas... a bit small time for a paper like that. Although I totally get that a majority of their audience is that demographic - but then again, they probably created that by focusing on it so...

Either way, I hope HU demolishes SBU so they have to spin a wild story to justify it.

Its all about selling newsdays newspaper and online hits. Parents want to read about their kids and see their names in the paper. Also the sports editor for newsday is Steve marcus who is an SBU grad.

Stu, Steve Marcus is not the sports editor...he's a college beat guy who I think is now part time. I've know Steve since my days as the Hofstra SID, good guy!

I'm reading Newsday this morning and was curious to see what kind of coverage Hofstra would get against Siena. I found an article that was a few small paragraphs long and the headlines read "Gustys 1,000th point is wasted as COLD -SHOOTING Hofstra Falls to Siena" It says Gustys scored 18 points including the 1,000 of his career but it wasn't enough................. You have to love accurate spot on journalism. This is an embarrassment to Newsday, Hofstra and ROK MORE SO THEN ANYONE ELSE. Maybe we should give them credit for spelling his name correctly!

There’s a write up on Newsday’s website. I don’t get a physical copy of the paper so I can’t confirm whether or not it’s there, but at least it’s somwwhere.

It was in paper, same story with no photo...had it been SBU it would have gotten 2 pages, color photos, et al of "EPIC WIN"

I live in Nassau County, and my Newsday covers Stony Brook, so Newsday in Suffolk should cover Hofstra.
