Hofstra going SAT Optional/Impact on sports

Post by HofstraPride1 »

I was curious what the other users on this board think of Hofstra's recent decision to go SAT optional both for the university as a whole and if it will have any impact on athletic recruiting. I personally like the move since am not a fan of standardized tests and we are certainly in good company with many other very solid schools already doing this such as Wake Forest, Wesleyan, Holy Cross, American, Bates, Bowdoin, etc. As far as athletic recruiting goes, I know all NCAA athletes need to a achieve a minimum so this likely won't impact that at all but some athletes may like that the SAT is not an admission consideration anymore. Overall, I think this move will only enhance the quality of the applicants and students we bring in.
