I love the look of the 1950's style HU uniforms. Maybe the Mack Arena and WRHU announcers can call the team The Flying Dutchmen instead of the Pride. I also noticed that the uniforms allowed the use of the numbers 6,7,8, and 9. I wonder if other HU teams can use this promotion. Old style HU Men's Lacrosse jerseys could be worn during one of their games.

Don't forget the pre game announcement "THE DUTCHMEN ARE IN THE GAME" I'll never forget that slogan!!

Now THIS is fantastic! Great job by all on this idea, love to see it every year, and hopefully across more sports down the road.

Like the retro idea and the whole 50's theme now let's get some fans in the stands and get a big win. Joe is appealing to the community and I guess anyone who'll cheer on the Dutch. UNCW although they have a dismal record is a potentially dangerous team strong in rebounding (8th in the country) Cacok the #1 rebounder in the country scores 17.5 apg gets 13.4 rebounds per and Talley 16.4 apg. Also Marcus Bryan another strong rebounder gets 7.3 rebounds per game. Both Cacok and Bryan are big kids at 6'7" and don't shoot it from the perimeter( not one 3). It sounds like a potential war in the paint with ROK and ST slowing these guys down and getting our share of boards. I don't know if we'll see JA. Does anyone know the status of his injury?? Also Wormley? I'll let Evan chime in on this game but we should be a 5-7 point favorite?? No?

I like the matchup for HU in this one - and love the retro theme, hopefully brings some great mojo for a DUTCH win!! HU owes the W...let's get some payback.

Was that really our old logo, or is it a new logo they're trying to make look retro?

Looks like it's some form of an old logo, based on this picture from the Hofstra Special Collections flickr page.

Shame that they create this great promotion and do very little to support it. For example, did you know that anyone born in the 50's get free admission? If they took and ad in Newsday or did any ads on the FAN I know we could draw a crowd. I know the students are back but honestly, unless they're getting free food or T shirts they won't show.

Another big game for us, we need to win on our home court,Thursday and Sat.

Agreed nice idea but could have advertised this more.We are nine point favorites in this game per Newsday and that in and of itself gets me nervous. We seem to play better when we are underdogs. We definitely need to play better at home no more stinkers like Elon and NE!!

Big game tonight, and big week

Absolutely LOVE this throwback idea, and great to see the bookstore and the athletic dept finally aligning on an effort - very very cool, pumped to get some of this old school gear

Loved JM's message too - let's hope for a great WIN in front of a lot of students - show them the value, and could help have a raucous Sat night game

This is really the home stretch for the season, every game has HUGE implications - now we see what kind of moxy this team really has...

Wish I couldn't have been there tonight. Hope the place is loud. Spread is a bit off IMO, but the people in the desert always know.

Fun night here at The Mack.

I like the idea and uniforms, but if they wanted to make it a true throwback night, they should have played this one with no 3-point line, shot clock or review. lol

The team was introduced on the PA and is listed on the media notes as the Hofstra College Flying Duchmen. Love it.

Congrats to Rok, whose second rebound tonight made him Hofstra's all-time Division I leading rebounder!
