Northeastern vs Hofstra

Northeastern is third in the conference in scoring at 77 a game(tied with Towson & UNCW) while we're second at 81 points a game behind W&M at 82.6. They give up 70.1 1st while we give up 78.5 sixth. So if these stats ring true we score 4 more give up 8 more sounds like we lose? I would normally say I like this matchup for us down low with ROK having the advantage 15 points and 13 rebounds in the first game. They play a four guard offense which normally could be good for us if DB and JR have decent games. JR can't play 16 minutes and score 1 point from the foul line(COC). Their average margin of victory is 6.9 while ours is 2.5. They shoot the 3 at 40.5 second in the conference while we shoot it at 37.5 fourth in the conference. NE shoots 77.1 from the FT line a little better then us at 74.1. We're a better rebounding team at 36.4 second in the league. They're next to last at 31.1. What does it all mean? It sounds like we need to capitalize down low with ROK needing a big game as we out rebound them and get second chance shots. If my memory serves me well they had numerous open looks from beyond the perimeter in the first game. Looking at the stats they hit 12 three's(34 attempts) in this game we hit three of 17. We didn't attempt a lot of three's but got ROK the ball down low but I believe we need to attempt and hit more three's which looks like a no brainer. It looks like another close game nail biter type providing that neither team is flat. A nice turn out at the Mack a plus for us maybe?? What's the feeling guys on this one??

Really big game. Need to hold serve at home. Important to get the tiebreaker against them.

Also, 3 of those 6 are NE, WM and CHARL. All of our biggest games are home, starting tomorrow. Gotta take ALL SIX home games! The way things are shaking out, we control our fate....DO THIS!

Hofstra will win 75-74 according to Ken Pomeroy's ratings and will win by 1.5 according to the Sagarin predictor. The five CAA games tonight have lines of 1.5, 2.5, 4.5, 5.5, and 6, for an average of exactly 4.

http://defiantlydutch.blogspot.com/2018 ... rn_25.html is Jerry Beach's "I'll Be Quirky: Northeastern."

Hofstra is starting Wright-Foreman, Buie, Pemberton, Gustys, and Trueheart.

Northeastern's starters are not avilable yet. http://static.caasports.com/custompages ... m#team.ind has Northeastern's statistics. They have used 12 players, all of whom have played in at least half of their 20 games. 9 players have played in every game, and they all average at least 10.7 minutes. Vasa Pusica averages 15.8 points and 4.5 assists and is a great shooter including shooting three-pointers .451. He averages 32.3 minutes, which is by far the most on his team. Shawn Occeus is second in points with 10.9 and minutes with 27.8.

Northeastern is starting Shawn Occeus (sophomore forward according to game statistics and guard according to ESPN), Vasa Pusica (junior guard), Maxime Boursiquot (sophomore forward according to game statistics and guard according to ESPN), Donnell Gresham (sophomore guard), and Anthony Green (junior center).

Angus III is injured.

Edit: Hofstra was down 12-6 and tied it at 12. Anthony Green, who averages only 3.3 rebounds, has 6 rebounds in 8:07. Only three players have rebounds, and Green has as many rebounds as everybody else combined excluding team rebounds. Wright-Foreman hasn't scored.

Edit: With 7:18 left in the first half, it's 16-16 and nobody has scored more than 4. Wright-Foreman hasn't scored and Pemberton has 2.

Welp, this team sure knows how to disappoint. Would've hoped they'd come out a lot hungrier and stronger after the clunker against Charleston, but I guess not. Now 5-4 in conference, after we had a share of first place just a few games ago.
Out-rebounded 40-25

That was disgusting start to finish. Were never in it. It’s unfathomable to think that they beat Northeastern a few weeks ago. They were completely outplayed and got schooled on what good defense looks like. Took a ton of bad shots.
