Minutes are 21.4 for Wormley and 26.3 for Johnson.

Greg Johnson although I don't remember him all that well when I watch footage from you tube he reminds of a guard that played 79-80 named Steve Brawley. A very quick guard who was small but had leaping ability and scored more 8.9 a game. Only guys that have been around a while would know that name!

Wow, Steve Brawley ... now you're taking me back. A lightning-quick guard out of LI Lutheran. Don't know if he had much of an impact in college, though.

Greg "Playstation" Johnson was another HS phenom who never panned out. He took took the final shot in a playoff game and missed, if I remember correctly.

A final shot that was a layup when we were down three. And if I remember correctly agudio was running the floor with him ready to take a three.

Yes, against George Mason, which was a 6 seed, when Hofstra was a 3 seed and could've done damage in the CAA tourney that year. He drove along the left blocks for a layup with Agudio standing at the 3-point line, between the top of the arc and the right wing, both hands up, yelling for the ball. Johnson never saw him. Nicknames should be earned. Hated that "Playstation" thing when his handle and his game were never all that great. Whatever they saw in high school or on the blacktop that gave him the name "Playstation" certainly didn't carry over to the college level. They should've retired that nickname until he could prove he could earn it again at Hofstra. Maybe that was part of his problem, being told he was better than he was before he got here.

Souffrant started before Douby. Douby started two seasons before Johnson.

Pretty sure it was against UNC-W on ESPN. No? Wasn't it the championship game where we made a furious comeback only to have GJ shoot a layup?

The Final loss to UNCW was 78-67.

This is striking me as very interesting...

As good as HU guards have been over the years in a general sense, HU has surprisingly struggled mightily finding quality PG play on a consistent basis. I find this strange, and unfortunate.

I think back to guys like Souffrant, Johnson, Mejia, Wormley.... ugh, I shudder.

Guys like Speedy, Nesmith, and of course Green, but he wasn't a real point. Chaz Williams was on track for stardom had he stayed for more than a cup of coffee.

So HU has had stud 2's and 3's more often than not, and some stud combos acting as makeshift points, but really only had 2 true stud PG's over almost 20 years (???) - am I recalling this right?? If so, that really shouldn't be. Got to do a MUCH better job.

Before Speedy we had a pretty good one . he now coaches the Baldwin High School boys basketball team.

Jenkins got plenty of assists even if you don't think of him as a point guard. In his sophomore and senior seasons he had more assists than the next two Hofstra players combined, although that was only true his senior season because Kelleher was suspended for 8 games. Kelleher and Moore combined to have 2 fewer assists than Jenkins in 2010-2011.
