Congrats to Senior Michael Hughes with 5 straight victories in the Navy Classic. Mike had 3 pins of 1:44 orcless. I️ predicted that Michael will garner all-American status st end of the year. It would not surprise me if Mike becomes our next national champion joining nick Gallo from years gone by. Nice job Michael and keep up the good work

Bumped to the top. Michael Hughes improves to 14-0 with three wins today. Had a pin fall, dec, and major dec today in his matches against Citadel, Campell, and Penn. Michael is ranked #6 after being ranked as high as #4. maybe his three wins vaults him back into the top 4. he needs this so he is seeded for the NCAAs.

At the grapplle at the garden Hofstra beats George Mason 26-9. Hofstra went in shorthanded and probably wrestled its best match since coach Dennis Pappadopis took over for Tom Ryan. Michael Hughes improved to 16-0 on the season with a tech fall as he won 15-0. I believe Michael has not even been scored upon in his last six matches. Sage Heller moved up in weight class to record a pin.

Flo Wrestling has an article about how incredible it is that Hofstra went the entire dual meet season without forfeiting a match, and the tweet/article makes it seem like our 20 man roster cap is low. Anyone know what the typical cap is, and why we are lower?

Lehigh which is in the same conference as Hofstra have 47 wrestlers on their roster. Of the 16 teams Hofstra spends 13th in the EIWA conference.

Wow... this is ... SAD. HU Wrestling is a program I consider important for HU and one that should be of some priority. I see HU athletics like this:

Flagships (Tier 1 should be THE focal point in all things)
Men's Hoops
Men's Lax

Majors (Tier 2, solid focus and $ to produce winners)
Womens Hoops
Softball
Wrestling
Soccer
Volleyball

Minor (Tier 3, low focus, fund enough to keep around, or cut and use the $ on the above)
Field Hockey
Womens Lax
Baseball
M/W Tennis
M/W Golf
M/W Cross Country

I smell typical Rabinowitz BS - I am counting down the days... time for new leadership.

I love some of the things he's accomplished, love the debate stuff, love the med school.... only thing is, NONE of this stuff has actually increased the academic profile or the student population like a lot expected. HU seems to be getting smaller and smaller, and I don't like that trend.

HU should be in the 12k range, and should EASILY be able to accomplish that with solid standards. Need the money flow. There is something awry here...and IMO it all falls on the head guy, just like in sports!

The real comparison has to be how many scholarships each team is giving out. Just having walkons doesn't add anything to the program. The maximum scholarships the NCAA allows for wrestling is 9.9. I'd rather use the 9.9 on 20 players then spread over 50 players. Now if Hofstra isn't giving out the full 9.9 scholarships then that is an issue.

Correct me if I am wrong but can't you only wrestle one player at each weight class? And there are 10 weight classes.

In duals yes but in tournaments you can have multiple wrestlers in each weight class
