Women's Basketball 2017-18

Post by ProudofPride »

Good 71-55 over UMBC to start the season on Sunday. Sophomore Elexus Davis almost had a triple double, just needed 1 more assist and 2 rebounds. She could be a special player this year, and it'll be interesting to see what happens when the Michigan transfer is eligible after this semester.
Unfortunately now getting embarrassed by Stony Brook at home, down 37-14, haven't scored in over 5 minutes while SBU is on a 14-0 and shooting almost 70% in the game. SBU is looking like Uconn right now, they literally can't miss a shot and are holding us to 27% shooting.

Disappointing to lose to them, where do we stand on overall series with them in all sports? Hopefully the men can get revenge next month.

Much improved team for both the men’s and women’s teams from Stony Brook. SBU women winning is not a surprise First off Hofstra did not have their prize transfer Boogie Brosinski in the line up. She will be eligible Dec 21st. SecondlySBU has more height now than Hofstra. We have 3 players 6 ft or taller and 5 that are 5ft11 and taller. SBU has 5 players 6 ft or better and Nine players on the roster 5ft11 or better. They 0utrebounded us 39-30

Not sure of the all time standings, but this year we are are 2-1-1. Women's soccer won 1-2, volleyball won 3-2, and men's soccer played to a 1-1 tie.

Women are playing Hartford right now, game is on Espn3 if anyone is interested.

Down 30-15 at halftime, hope the team won't have a second consecutive blowout against an America East opponent  Very concerning to see them come out so flat in all aspects again, I hope they would've had something different after the disaster against Stony Brook. Delaware beat this team comfortably a few days in ago, in their second game under a new head coach. Still a lot of game time to turn this around though.

60-49 final. Good 4th quarter after a rough first 3, outscoring the Hawks 23-16, but bottom line is that it's hard to when games when you commit 27 turnovers  This team was majorly rebuilding last year, seems like that's still the case. The past few years, they've been going with more of a run and score plan, instead of sticking with defense. They don't have the shooters to play like that, strong defense is what has been successful in the past, since Krista's teams have never been built to score.

Help is on the way Boogie will be eligible dec 21. Turnovers should be cut in half. Bigger concern is we have no interior defense. This team was rarely out rebounded but now due to lack
Of height we are losing the battle of the boards and points in the paint

They have a decently ranked post player that'll be eligible 12/21 as well (http://www.espn.com/high-school/girls-b ... /id/207291). It would be nice if the team could figure out how to win against Holy Cross on Tuesday so that they could go into the Thanksgiving tournament in Vegas with some confidence, since they'll have to face UNLV, and then either Minnesota or Wake Forest.

Nice win over Wake Forest today! Always good to beat a power conference opponent, regardless of that opponent’s record. Great performances by Leon and Durant.

To make the Wake Forest win look even better, they just beat Elon. Elon seemed to be by far the best team in the conference. The women also had a nice 2OT win over Sacred Heart the other night, they're coached by former Hofstra assistant Jess Mannetti. That was always going to be a tough game since she knows the HU system so well.

I watched the women's basketball game last night thru Hofstra's portal and what a sloppy game. It's no secret why they lost this game with 23 turnovers. It can't come soon enough the debut of Boogie Brozoski. I believe this game would of had a different outcome with her running the point. Their 3 point shooting was good though hitting almost 38% but just couldn't protect the ball.
