Dutch Nation '17-'18!

Post by Polito »

Hello All!

Another season is upon us, so let's kick things off - for our first meeting, we are looking at either:

Thursday 9/21
Friday 9/22

Evening time at The Savoy Grill in Merrick. I know there is a desire for other locations, and we can/will look into it this year. BUT keep in mind this is a very appropriate/local/HU friendly place that is very convenient for the HU staff/coaches we ask to attend.

We will most likely incorporate other locations into road game events and attendance as there are some very good options for that this year (Monmouth and SBU come to mind...).

There are pros and cons to both nights, so sound off and let us know what is preferred - we'll use the majority.

Either date is fine with me, but since Rosh Hashanah is on the 21st I imagine the 22nd would be better for entire group (although a Friday night might not be ideal).

Rosh Hashanah is two days, the 21st and the 22nd.

Good point Evan. Maybe another week would be better or earlier that week?

Yom Kippur is Friday night September 29 into Saturday. The Yankees are playing a day game that Friday so Jews can pray afterward.

If we're going to discuss meetings in here, shouldn't somebody make this topic stay at the top and not make the "ALL HU FANS - MAJOR Announcement - PLEASE READ" stay at the top anymore?

The 28th should work well. Does that work for others?

I just realized there is a Hofstra wsoccer home game against Drexel that night which I would love to attend if possible, but if that is best day for others I understand.

That day is good for me. Ironically would be nearly one year anniversary of first meeting (Sept. 27)

The Hofstra SGA spirit chair mentions in this tweet above wanting to boost attendance at sporting events which is great to see. Perhaps she would be someone good to invite to one of the upcoming meetings?

Thanks cactus - can we get this thread pinned up at the top? We can 'un-pin' the other one started last year.

Thanks evan.

It's set: Tuesday 9/26 8pm at The Savoy Grill in Merrick, mark your calendars and let's kick this season off!!!

Thanks for pinning this up!

Have to say, I am very surprised at the lack of activity this thread has seen so far. Don't know about you guys, but it's been a LONG offseason, and I am jacked up to get HU hoops cranking again!

I'm going to hope this is simply due to the summer season, and now that all have returned from Labor Day festivities, we will see a LOT more confirmations for 9/26. PLENTY of advanced notice, and a night that should have little to no conflicts.

This is YEAR 2 for DUTCH NATION! We should be bigger, better, stronger, and MORE passionate than the first! Totally understand out of staters, or folks that work night shifts, but for everyone else, let's get some fire going and have a super kickoff!!

Let's go true bluers, get on board the HU fan train, and help make an impact!!! We absolutely need and appreciate every one of you! Please know that. Excited to see you all there! 8-)

For some beers/ciders before the stony brook game, I will be definitely spending some time at http://www.poboybrewery.com .
