CAA 2017-2018 Men's Basketball Schedule

Post by EvanJ »

http://caasports.com/news/2017/8/15/men ... edule.aspx has the schedule. Hofstra has 6 games at 4:00 P.M. and 12 games at 7:00 P.M. The games start Saturday December 30. Then they play Tuesday January 2, Friday January 5, Sunday January 7, and a Thursday-Saturday schedule for seven weeks from Thursday January 11 through Saturday February 24. Hofstra starts at William & Mary, goes to College of Charleston between two home games, and ends at James Madison. Hofstra plays consecutive games in the south at Elon on February 8 and at UNC Wilmington on February 10.

Good stuff, I like it a lot - for the most part, road games when students are away, and home ones when they are back - not that it's been a huge difference lately, but it's the way you want it should things finally change in that dept.

Just realized that after the Nov 11 game against Kennesaw, we do not play a D1 team at the Mack until three games into the CAA season on January 5th. So of the first 14 games of the season, we play two games at the Mack (the first two)! I don't really count Molloy (D2) as a game....more like a warm-up. And we have the weird game against Manhattan being played at Adelphi.

Certainly games like Stony Brook and maybe Monmouth are close enough to attend, but we are visitors. And of course there is Villanova (great game for the schedule), however there will likely be more Villanova fans than HU fans.

So St John's will only agree to play us when it doesn't actually count? Better than nothing, I suppose. Maybe this will spark them actually playing us for real. https://twitter.com/NYPost_Brazille/sta ... 9755776001

The NCAA is allowing teams to play an open exhibition against a D1 team this year as a fundraiser for areas affected by hurricanes, in addition to the 2 scrimmages previously allowed. We are playing against Fairfield on Monday night in CT. Very tempted to go, I just hope I can get some time off of work for it.

Not too bad of a ride from Long Island if anyone wants to go. Just take the Hutchinson River Parkway from the Throggs Neck Bridge, and that turns into the Merritt Parkway in Connecticut, which runs right through Fairfield, very near the university. The Port Jefferson ferry is another option, that puts you in Bridgeport, about 15-20 minutes away from Fairfield.

Ferry is about 10 minutes from the school. You just have to make sure the last ride back isn't too early.
I-95 is also an alternative to the Merritt. School is 2 minutes off of I-95

Jeff Goodman tweeted out the complete list of "secret" scrimmages. The one we already knew about against St John's is one week from today at SJU, and we also host St Peters on 11/4.
