This is encouraging considering our record this year. If they keep up this marketing pressure and we start to put some wins together I bet we could see some solid attendance numbers next year.

EvanJ do you know what our record for average attendance is? I am assuming its probably somewhere around the 2005-06 to 2007-08 seasons. I know 05-06 we had the two home NIT games and the #25 GMU game which probably helped our average.

And the frustration continues.. We can beat anyone in the league. We just gave the top 2 teams in the CAA all they could handle, yet we are now 5-11 in conference. The causes are the same as past Michalich teams. Poor defense, no bench, and undersized. UNCW's last 2 baskets came off offensive rebounds. Stubborn Michalich has yet to try Sabety and Gustys on the court at the same time. How can we expect 4 guards and 1 big to get rebounds consistently? It just makes no sense to NEVER try a different lineup out there even for just a few minutes just to see what you have. It's not like his current formulas are working, they're 5-11!

In my view, we currently have a 6 man rotation yet again for the CAA tournament! TG and JR are zeros. The best we can hope for is winning Friday night and then giving UNCW all they can handle again in the quarterfinals. Of course it would be sweet to knock off the team that has denied us trips to the dance twice (2016, 2006) but even if that happens, we still would need to win 2 more games.

Kudos to the crowd yesterday. We had a decent student section but overall, it was loud and enthusiastic crowd that was treated to an excellent college basketball game played at pretty high level. Hopefully we can gain some momentum for next year in this area.

We averaged over 3,000 per game in Charles' last season

No real options Stu, you know that. Put Rok and Hunter out there together and one gets abused by a smaller more athletic player. Plus they are both prone to fouling so then we will be left with Walker....

Cards wrote:Very good exciting college basketball game. Our guys played hard and basically took the best team in the league down to the wire. Best fan participation all year - game was pretty intense for the last 10 minutes.

Good effort by Rok (looks healthy again), JWF, EP and DP. Nothing from the SF spot. BB was off tonight (used up his streaky shooting on Thursday and made nothing tonight).

All is not perfect in HU MBB land, but the last two games we stuck with the 2 best teams in the league till the very end. Given the team make-up and talent level we currently have, I'd have to say I'm OK with the losses of the last two games.

JM gotta get a true PG and someone who can step in and contribute at the 4 spot. Unless ST is burning it up at practices, we should bring someone in for additional/immediate help for next year at the 4.

Thursday night at pregame chalk talk, asst coach said that is exactly the two holes they are trying to fill --- that was very encouraging to hear!
Cards great to meet you! Totally agree...we are one or two players short of being an elite team in the CAA...The four spot has killed us this year...You can say all you want about a short rotation but Robinson and Greer have proven to be at best non-factors and at worst detriments to the team out there. As for PT guard, if Buie was not hurt we would have been fine but we do need another one...and a bigger guard and a back up four, maybe Trueheart and we should be in good shape next year.

We were down 1 with 48 seconds to go against the league-leading team. It only got to a bigger margin because of the intentional fouls at the end. That's not a performance to be ashamed of. We gave them a run for their money, and if we get them again the CAA tournament, we'll definitely have a chance.

If we only had a 4...as everyone knows we have gotten very little offensive and defensive production out of the 4 position....if we had a 4 that could contribute this season we would be in the top 4 in CAA standings....I do not think we should expect Trueheart to step in right away next season and carry the load of that position...staff must land someone that can contribute next season at this position

Coach Mihalich's last Niagara team had Juan'ya, Ameen, Anthony Mason and TJ Cline. Somehow the AD at Niagara allowed the coach to bring 2 players with him to Hofstra.( Had coach stayed at Niagara he might have gone to the dance with that team.)
Would love to know if TJ Cline ever considered coming to Hofstra with Green and Tanksley. He is playing for Richmond,He is a 4, a good rebounder and was referred to as a point forward . He would have been a real difference maker at HU both last year and this. Too bad!

Isn't our current defense getting abused anyway? We quite often give up wide open looks to our opponents. I understand the fouling aspect of playing them together but I'm not asking them to both start or even play long stretches together. I just think certain situations call for them to both be out there. The team has had the tendency this season to fall behind and then battle their way back in games but whenever they need a big stop on defense, they don't get it. If Rok and HS are out there, maybe we could limit second chance points for our opponents late in games.

I'm hoping Trueheart is the guy. He had offers from GW, Richmond and Siena. He also committed to James Madison originally, so I think he will be able to play at this level and be a factor, especially as a redshirt Freshman.

Speaking of Trueheart, what did we gain by redshirting him this year? We sure could have used him in the last two games.

If we didn't have so many dumb turnovers we could have won.

Hofstra averaged 2,897 in 1999-2000 and 2,985 in 2000-2001. I don't know Hofstra's attendance in Pecora's first two seasons, 2001-2002 and 2002-2003. Hofstra's best average in the fourteen seasons 2003-2004 though 2016-2017 was 3,623 in 2006-2007, when we were first in the CAA Preseason Poll. In 2005-2006 when we got snubbed, we averaged 3,023. Early in 2005-2006 our fans would not have known how good Hofstra was going to be.

Adding my 2 cents to the coaching-I do not recall ever seeing us keeping a big guy back when bringing the ball up to set a screen(pick).

Was watching the game back on SNY. At one point late in the game as we were keeping it close, the announcers said that if Hofstra was to ever tie the game the roof would get blown off - that's a good crowd getting credit. Sounded loud and proud on TV. Great to see for a televised game.
