Re: OT trvia question

Ugh, you're impossible. I'm going to say Yaz was in left field. The pitcher off the top of my head was Jim Lonborg maybe, or Dick Radatz. Shows you how the game has changed with Mel S even getting an AB.

Re: Coaching search

Good point Jojo. This was billed as a national search. I doubt Hofstra will even cross state lines in this quest. I want to be a fan but Hofstra makes it hard sometimes.

Re: 2021 Men's Lacrosse

Seems like I'm the only one on this board. Shows you how much the program has fallen. This game was never really in doubt mid-way through the 2nd quarter. We lose to a UMass team missing two of its better players. No, Lufti or Ardsley today at all I think. Those guys were pretty good players last ye...

Re: 2021 Men's Lacrosse

Well that ends it. I cannot remember a Hofstra defense this porous and out-of-sync. What's going on there? It looks clueless.

Re: 2021 Men's Lacrosse

Well the first half of UMass certainly sucked. The defense looked dazed and confused again like against Stony Brook and St. John's. Really have dug themselves a hole. On the offensive end I don't know why they continue to go high on UMass goalie.

Re: 2021 Men's Lacrosse

Surprised about Rudd, thought McIntosh would get the nod. Any word on Concannon's injury? Stupid question, but you never know.

Re: Coaching search

If we didn't hear a word about the new president (which looks to me to be a solid choice) until it was done, I doubt we'll hear anything about the new men's basketball coach. And, when we do there will days of laudatory self-congratulation. Stand back and stand by. Wait, that sound's familiar? Who s...

Re: 2021 Men's Lacrosse

Good question Stu. Good luck getting an answer. Getting injury reports or related information out of Hofstra is like asking for the nuclear codes. He likely has a lower body injury like in the NHL.

Re: Transfers and Other Player News

As usual, Polito is spot on. This is "nail-biting" time for this program's foreseeable future. In a prior email I mentioned that Hofstra's programs when they are on the precipice of reaching a higher level usually don't. Hope Hofstra finally nails this pick.

Re: Transfers and Other Player News

This is not good. We invested three years developing him. This program is at a real crossroads (obviously) but this is not a good omen in my view. We went from back-to-back regular season CAA titles, a CAA tournament championship and NCAA berth, to a mess for a variety of reasons. Geez, you can't ma...

Can Jalen and Tariq come back for another year due to Covid-19? And, if so, any word on that?

How about Frank Haith in the event he leaves Tulsa? A Queens guy and former coach at Miami and Missouri and former National Coach of the Year at Mizzo. He played at Elon.

Re: 2021 CAA Men’s Basketball Tournament

That was awful. Totally out coached. Elon had a plan. We barely showed up. Thought Truehart could have helped on the perimeter defense with his height, but everything was awful.

The Rifleman? Chuck Connors? Know he had a cup of coffee with the Cubs and a short stint in the early NBA.

Just a guess - Wilt Chamberlin? Easy to be a good shooter when you're throwing the ball down from 8 inches above the rim.
