Re: Time Cluess Stepping Down at Iona
They just finished a $6 mil renovation on the existing place. That's not a no, but I can't see them going for it right away. https://www.lohud.com/story/sports/coll ... 151987001/

Re: Time Cluess Stepping Down at Iona
According to the Post, he'll be getting slightly less than the 1.1mil that Cluess was getting. It's a five year deal.

Re: Looking Ahead to 2020-2021 season
There has been no decision yet regarding allowing winter sports athletes to return for another year... There are positives and negatives regarding this decision... On one hand it would be great to have Desure and Eli back, but on the other as Wags and others have said, this will prevent our upper c...

Re: 2020 CAA Men's Basketball Tournament
I think we are all making a lot of assumptions here; 1)That the NCAA would make exceptions for the teams that excelled the most (and lost a chance to play at least one game in the big dance) This would involve giving top teams extra scholarships for the following year...the rich get richer. (Would ...

Re: AA suggestion for Hofstra
Doesn't all of that usually happen at the home opener? Banner raising and all that? We had "banner day" every season with softball. I feel like doing it in the middle of the summer with nobody around, nobody thinking about basketball, and the students all gone would kind of be a killer.

Re: Tournament Closed to Public
While yes, the tournament is going to lose a lot of money by not having fans, just remember that like 99% of NCAA championships, down to the D3 cross country nationals, end up losing money and are done for the student-athlete experience, not for the fans. And, of course, remember that much of the mo...

Tournament Closed to Public
So it looks like it'll be at least another year before any of us get to see Hofstra play in the tournament. In person, at least. Only essential staff and limited family members will be allowed in.

Re: 2020 CAA Tourney Trip
I made the trek down yesterday afternoon- cut it close, but I was in the arena by 6:30. Not a band arena, considering what the attendance at these games normally are. And glad it's up north again- I booked my flight to SC early last year for the finals, as I (and all of us) had a hunch. Not that thi...

Re: 2020 CAA Men's Basketball Tournament
If it's anything like softball was, the coach/SID sort of decides for them. The winning team gets 2 + most outstanding player, runner up gets 3, and that's it.

The entire game is isolation 1 on 1, and they're not winning any of them. No movement, no creativity.

This is some ugly basketball. Just a weird start, the net, the whole thing.

I mean baseball and softball wear gray uniforms anyway- that's the nature of the sport. But navy, not so much.

Baseball uniforms
So all the teams are now in Nike uniforms, including baseball, which came out with these, which honestly not only look terrible, but aren't Hofstra colors. Not really sure what they are going for here, but with the royal accessories (belts, catchers gear, helmets) it's a bit of a mess. https://twitt...
