Re: Next years team and expectations
Thanks JT; you were just what the doctor ordered and the Pride needed. I hope you enjoy a bright future and stay in touch with the program.

Re: If We Have Three Players Combine For 50 PPG...
My memory leaves much to be desired and I have done no fact checking but yes Wandy played football and I believe was a 5th round draft pick of the Denver Broncos. At kansas they felt he would be an AA, they just weren't sure which sport. He was a strong explosive athlete but so tightly muscled he wa...

Re: RPI vs. NET
The net, rpi, et al are good faith efforts to quantify the relevant criteria and make everyone feel the process is fair. However the strength of schedule metric is too all powerful. If you play in a power conference you are going to have plenty of opportunities for wins against the top 2 quadrants e...

Re: Wanted: Coaches
Like many on this board I was bitterly disappointed at the same old result but gratified we were in the position to have high hopes. My expectations however were low after COC lost in the Semi's. NE is a far better coached team and will represent the conference well barring a really terrible match u...

As has been said any number of times DD is athletically limited. However he brings 3 things every night: energy, effort and intelligence.

Re: MBB Game 28 vs. Towson on February 21 7:00 P.M.
Like a number of you I am anxious about what I am seeing late in the season. We have some wonderfully gifted offensive guards in JWF, EP + DB and kids that can spark but are inconsistent in JR + TC. Taylor has been a great addition who appears to be getting steadily better and gives us some defense ...

Enjoyed Zagorias' article as well and delighted to see Buie get some deserved recognition and be made aware of his 3:92 gpa.

Re: Hofstra vs CoC 1/19/19
When I went for my interview at Hofstra, I was seated in Hofstra Hall and across from me was none other than Bill Thieben who I had seen play MANY times. I was a Hofstra junkie well before I entered in 55. To my regret I was too shy to approach him. He was a physical power house, often a man among b...

Re: Other Fall Sports
Ouch; a big loss. Fortunately over all our athletic programs gain more from transfers than we lose. Emily has shown herself to be an able recruiter with good international contacts and NY is a good draw for many, so I'm hopeful. Thanks for posting even if it was disappointing.

Re: Casa Bow-Wow
Politos' distinction between misses and missed assessments is a good one as are his comments in general. We recruited MUCH better in Joe's first 3 yrs. The next 2 we have done a lot of settling with a number of guys with minimal stats and recruitment who are not D 1 caliber. Cramer is a promising st...

Re: Other Fall Sports
Kudos to Simon and the team. Thank you Evan for the analysis, stats and links. There have been occasions when I felt some of your stats were on the quirky side and not all that useful but I have increasingly come to appreciate them. Not sure if my standards are declining or the stats are becoming in...

competitive but ragged. Lots of offensive fouls, turnovers, missed free throws; ugly. It was there for the taking.

Re: support for mbb
Thanks for starting this topic. It is fun to read the backgrounds of some of the posters and great to see some students on the board. Attending and participating in athletics were and are my fondest memories of Hofstra. I wish more of the student body understood and felt that way. Hopefully you and ...

Re: Game 20 at College of Charleston: 1/20/2018 at 4:00 P.M.
A missed opportunity indeed. In some ways reminiscent of the Auburn game. An unsustainable outstanding first half of offensive execution and shooting coupled with our all too sustainable failure to cut off dribble penetration or defend the interior. I blame this more on coaching than lack of effort ...

Re: Game 18 at Drexel
Ken, thanks for joining, sharing your upbeat assessment and most of all the joy and excitement your teams brought to us Hofstra fans. The ND game I believe was a very credible 90-83 loss against a very talented team. As you said the painful one was UConn. I was at the NCAA wrestling championships at...

Re: HU Alum Jon Cooper Leads Tampa Bay Into NHL EC finals
Congratulations Jon Cooper; go Lightening. I am wondering if Jayson Hernandez status at Orlando will be impacted by a new head coach? Great article on Curry featuring a number of quotes and mug shot of Bob Mckillup initially in the Wash. Post, reprinted in the Mpls. Star Tribune.

Thanks for the welcomes. Yes, I will become briefer as I catch up a bit. I won't be dormant but probably not "active". I resisted posting for these many years to avoid becoming even more consumed by Hofstra athletics. My family, friends, portfolio and activities suffer enough. It would be ...

While I have been on this site or "defiantly dutch" or "uncle buck" almost daily for years this is my first post. I am a passionate sports and Hofstra fan. I don't think it is hyperbole to say that I have attended at least 200 Hofstra sporting events before, during and after my t...
