Re: Transfer Portal
Were Kevin Schutte and Obi Toppin separated at birth? Pretty big time resemblance in face and size I think.

Re: Transfer Portal
Injuries and illness have a way of diminishing performance. Thomas stepped up big time. Estrada was big time even at half speed even when double teamed. I see that HU is after a guard from UMKc. Big 6’4” guard with a body like Amare Marshall and an all league defender in his conference. Shemerri All...

Re: Men's Lacrosse 2023
Thanks Dutchflid for giving us all a parent’s and players perspective on what is Hofstra lacrosse. Very nice thoughts about ST. This team did seem like a very together bunch. Sorry to see a boatload of senior and grad students move on. Good luck to all of them including your son in their post Hofstr...

Re: Transfer Portal
I saw on the Iona board that a student posted that he saw Shema in a diner and asked if hi is staying at Iona and he said yes. The package deal may be Sunday and his high school teammate from Our Savior Lutheran who is 6’6” Sadiku Ibine Ayo.

Re: Aaron Estrada Wins Haggerty Award
Saying the obvious but Estrada was a great player for Hofstra. Double teamed, game planned against and made everyone around him a better player. Thank you for your time here. At Alabama if covered one on one watch out SEC. Good luck Aaron and congratulations on the Haggerty Award.

Not really accurate. I think he would have if permitted. Chaz Williams left for Umass and Halil
Kanicevic went to St Joes.

Re: Transfer Portal
So maybe a factor in Amare Kelly is he is from Long Island.
If I remember he is a recent father. Maybe he still has family on Long Island.
You never know.

Re: Jack Styczynski
I am sorry to hear of his passing. I remember he was really mad at Pechora leaving fo the Fordham job. Hated that he said Hofstra was his dream job and then left. In hindsight Pechora might agree with Jack. He had Polito like passion and did not pull punches. He let you know how he felt.RIP Jack and...

Re: Transfer Portal
Lots of players to choose from. Wonder what the NIL expectation level is for some players. There should be players that don't command the upper levels of $. As far as Perry Smith goes, his role diminished greatly at the end of the year. Both he and another PF frosh at Vermont are exiting. Princeton ...

Re: Men's Lacrosse 2023
Not pretty. Gates is a good goaltender. Merrimack had some fairly close in wide open shots that they put on net. Hofstra kept missing the net when they got decent looks. Can't score if you don't put it on net. Today particularly Rory Jones. Signs of a pulse late with a freshman from Florida scoring ...

Re: MBB Game 24 - Towson, 2/2/23 (Thurs), 7 PM
I thought the team played as physical a game as I can remember. Towson is always physical. I saw more Hofstra players diving for balls than I can remember as well. For years I have seen other teams outwork and outscramble us. I think there has been an added emphasis on the 50-50 balls and I love it....

Is this Estrada’s last year of eligibility?
Estrada did one year at St Peter’s one year at Oregon and now 2 years at Hofstra. Is another year possible? If he does not have a clear shot at the NBA might he stay. If he has another year might he go Power Conference? If this is indeed his last year here who is the next great guard for us? We have...

I am pretty sure that Marquis Godwin was a high school teammate of Jalen Ray.
If Jalen Ray gave us one more season, he would be having a hometown game here on Thursday.

Re: MBB Game 11 - UMass, 12/11/22, 7 PM EST
Boy was that ugly! I keep hoping some of the upper class players can offer some poise under pressure. Washington looks extremely uncomfortable. Thomas similarly is often forcing and rushing stuff. I hope this game is as ugly as it can get. Without Estrada and no outside shooting it was amazing we st...

Re: MBB Game 6 - Middle Tennessee, 11/25/22, 7 PM EST
Before the game i read up a bit on Middle Tennessee. They won 27 games last year. won their conference and lost to UAB for the Ncaa bid. We looked bad but some of that is because of the tenacious opposition. Dubar again was a no show. Is he hurt? If not, we may have to get him in more of a reboundin...

Re: MBB Game 2 - Iona, 11/11/22, 7 PM
My reliable contact says the freshman big will redshirt this year. This current team is easy to root for. I hope we play a deeper group because I think we have more capable players to step up. Injuries happen and it's nice if the bench is not completely green. Pitino was complaining about the lack o...

We stole that one! Totally abused down low. When we have some additional bigs we obviously would compete better Once again the guards steal the day. Estrada is like silk.Marshall was a raging bull. Plotnikov will be a presence. Carlos clutch. Speedy’s biggest problem will be keeping all the guards h...
