Re: NCAAT 2024 Thread

Alabama destroyed Charleston tonight, 109-96. At one point, the Cougars were down by 31 points. I hate to think what the Tide would have done to us. It was a big night for UA's Mark Sears, who led all scorers with 30 points. Estrada had a nice game, displaying his versatility with 13 points, 7 rebo...

Currently there are 671 tranfers in the Portal...wait until after this weekend when half the teams in the post-season start posting!

Re: NCAA 2024 MBB Transfer Portal

I agree with Zman. Dubar has played well closer to his NC home. Also, Pitino runs a tight ship, and Dubar's inconsistency may keep him on the bench. Speaking of St. John's, former Iona PG Cruz Davis is now in the portal. He played only 26 minutes in 4 games for the Red Storm. Don't know what he wou...

Re: NCAA 2024 MBB Transfer Portal

This is a huge blow to the team next year no matter how you slice it. Was hoping Speedy could convince him to lead the team next year like he did with Thomas. If Dubar goes to St. John's that will be even worse as it will make us look like little brothers, even though we probably are. Welcome to the...

Re: Next Year's Team

I don't like that you can apparently transfer within your conference...i.e. Policelli going from SB to Charleston. Can really make an even bigger mess.

NIT????

Do any of us think we have a chance of stealing an NIT bid? Does our win over Rutgers last year carry any weight? Will all mids be marginalized with the new selection criteria?

Re: Next Year's Team

I didn't consider Carlos leaving but this is a new landscape, anything is possible. Led league in assists by a mile and regular entry on the all defensive team. I think Carlos stays. He has a great relationship with Speedy and he knows Speedy will make him the best player he can be. If he leaves th...

Re: Next Year's Team

Don't sleep on our two committed freshmen; PF Joshua Decady, who at 6-8 looks to be an impaful player and the 6-6 SF Amir Williams. Both of these guys were recruited aggressively and are ranked pretty high. Looks like a log jam of 6-3 guards in Farmer, Parnell and Robinson...hopefully one emerges as...

Re: CAAT Tuesday, March 12 - Championship Game

We need to improve our rebounding...seems we're outrebounding by every team we play...Speedy needs to construct a roster with some depth and more toughness, a team that can WIN the damned CAA championship...right now we're short on the right pieces EVERYWHERE. We hopefully return Carlos, Plotnikov a...

Re: CAAT Tuesday, March 12 - Championship Game

We're in about the same boat...we will need to completely re-tool our team with the departures of Thomas, Washington, Fritz and the expected departure of Dubar...like to see a bit of a change from Guard U as we've seen where that has gotten us over the past three years.

Re: Newsday Coverage or Lack Of

Let it rip Newsday, the moment you’ve wanted to have a total field day, and this program deserves every bit of it. Please do not spare a single soul. Maybe with enough public humiliation something will actually change at Hofstra. …. Naaahhhhh who am I kidding. Story actually wasn't that bad...if fa...

Re: CAAT Monday, March 11 - Semifinals

Norhing much to add that hasn't been already said but extremely disappointed in the team's and coachs' performance tonight and against the worst possible oppoent.

Only hope is that they are seething and will use it as motivation going forward.

Re: CAAT Monday, March 11 - Semifinals

ESPN has us as 5.5 point favs and gives us a 75.3% chance of winning.
I like our chances. We are playing much better defense now than we were against them previously and they have to be a little tired after two games and two overtimes in two days.

Re: CAAT Sunday, March 10 - Quarterfinals

Congrats on a great team win...when you key on Thomas it opens things up for Carlos and Dubar and they took full advantage. Now on to SB...huge game for PRIDE...hopefully they have no legs. I think this one will be close early with us pulling away. I think SB only beat Drexel due to Williams' injury...

Re: Newsday Coverage or Lack Of

Who needs Newsday when you can get nice articles like this in the post... https://nypost.com/2024/03/09/sports/hofstra-gives-blueprint-for-low-level-schools-navigating-transfer-system/ Agreed, while Roger Rubin and Newsday fawn all over Rick Pitino, Braziller does his homework and writes a great st...
