Re: CAA Play OOC
I definitely like assist/turnover ratio but I'm more going to judge a players upside by what I see with my eyes and IMO I see tentative play from our points. I like an aggressive guy on both sides of the ball someone who can penetrate and either dish or score, someone who can pull up on the break an...

Re: CAA Play OOC
Evan that's a lot of statistical info. This guy Tramaine Isabell is some kind of player considering the rebounds as well. Maybe coming from Missouri this is child's play for him considering the talent he's playing against. Although u left the best part out that he's only 6'1". Almost inconceiva...

CAA Play OOC
Just happened to notice CAA team records so far this season for what it's worth. Towson stands out at 7-1 and is coming off a victory over Lasalle. I don't remember that much about Towson. Last year I do remember Martin coming off the bench and burning Hofstra as a freshman. They r top 100 statistic...

Re: Game 7 vs Molloy
I know its weaker competition, but the second team looked great with ball movement late in the game. Everyone touched the ball on every possession. One thing is still a problem and it has to be worked on. Our guards are terrible with keeping opposing guard out of the paint. Molloys guards kept beat...

Re: Game#6 Siena
OK so we can go on and on with statistics forever and probably in this game it's safe to say that St. Bonn. played a lot better D then Hofstra did against Siena. If you like to play the extrapolation game based on the score of the Siena vs St Bonn. and Hofstra vs Siena we should conclude that Hofstr...

Re: Game#6 Siena
I sense a little sarcasm there CARDS but I don't think anyone is suggesting we become complacent with losing or even have it in our mindset. We're talking about finding the best five starters and concurrently who should be coming off the bench getting minutes. There isn't anyone that wants to be par...

I've never been there but when they're on the opposite side on offense you might need really good eyes or maybe binoculars to see??

Re: Game#6 Siena
Polito, how can you judge a player after only 8 games....Wormely has been put into the toughest role for a new player; point guard...he has size, athleticism and can play defense, although right now he is fouling too much....he exhibits all the traits of someone who is trying too hard to fit in to ...

Re: Game#6 Siena
I hadn't really looked up the stats on Siena but now I have and it seems to me some exaggerated narratives here. I for one know they have a good basketball tradition and we've seen the kind of following they have. Siena to really state the record correctly lost to COC in O/T the team predicted to wi...

Re: Game#6 Siena
My recollection the last time we played Molloy we won by around 30 after a sluggish and close first half. I don't like these kind of games because there's no upside for the Div one team. If they blow them out everyone will say so what there D-2 but if the game is close then we have to listen to Hofs...

Re: Game#6 Siena
We already have a solid point guard in Buie. He is averaging 3.2 assists in 18 minutes a game. If he is healthy enough he should be playing more minutes and probably can average 5 assists. He isn't going to score like powers or green but we don't need that from a point guard. We have plenty of othe...

Re: Game 10 - Stony Brook
Does anyone have any current info. on getting tickets for this game? I would like to see Hofstra beat these guys although I saw parts of their game against Michigan state and they played well.

Re: Media Thread
I'm reading Newsday this morning and was curious to see what kind of coverage Hofstra would get against Siena. I found an article that was a few small paragraphs long and the headlines read "Gustys 1,000th point is wasted as COLD -SHOOTING Hofstra Falls to Siena" It says Gustys scored 18 p...

Re: Game#6 Siena
Thanks Gary for that info. The heart and soul of most teams is their PG play and they lost a good guard in Deron Powers. I know some people knocked him maybe because he was small and bigger guards shot over him but still scored 13 + a game last year and had a lot of assists. I'm not sure if there is...

Re: Game#6 Siena
Lots of venting and rightfully so. Lets not be so quick to throw the entire coaching staff under the bus. Clearly there's been success over the years and that's not just a coincidence. I watched Speedy play over the years and know he brings a wealth of knowledge to the table. All those people who ar...

Re: Game#6 Siena
OK so let's get buckled in guys because this could be a long season. I've said recently that the keys to this team are our defense and our PG play. This game was indicative where are improvements need to be made. Their freshman PG had almost as many assists as our whole team(11/13). Our PG's had a t...

Re: Men's Basketball RPI Predictions From RPI Forecast
I don't think about THE NIT trying to stay focused on one thing and that's the NCAA's. A tough road with a lot of speed bumps. Two years ago JM complained big time about having to play on the road against George Washington. We had a higher RPI than GW from what I believe and certainly would have had...

Re: Men's Basketball RPI Predictions From RPI Forecast
I not sure what all that statistical nonsense is but if they lose 8 games in the conference I would be disappointed. The conference has tough teams from top to bottom so there really is no easy games. I still say the jury is out on their PG play and for me that's the whole enchilada. It's clear that...
