Re: 2018 CAA Men's Basketball Tournament (and Contest)
Haven't made any predictions yet, but I do think Northeastern gets it done tonight. I will at least be rooting for them, which btw would be the only team out of Boston I could ever pull for lol

Re: Can we please have a poll on mens bball fan confidence?
Ok so who would you hire???? Easy to say hire a new coach...did you think that if we change coaches most of the players would leave...look at what happened to UNCW last year. This coaching staff has stabilized this program, bought us our ONLY CAA regular season championship, an NIT berth and maybe ...

Re: OT- the MAAC being turned upside down
All you guys forget that the deal for Cluess was done at Hofstra until Iona wanted to blackmail Hofstra for something like a million bucks to buy out his contract. We were already paying Cassara's contract so rightfully we did not agree to the black mail. Oh and yes, Cluess would not be able to bri...

Re: OT- the MAAC being turned upside down
HU is truly snake bit in every facet of it's hoop program. That's 3 MAAC titles in row for Iona, and Cluess has gotten them to the title game 7 out of 8 years. The guy has been a flat out winner wherever he's coached. Does he have some recruiting advantages at Iona? Yes. But why do I get the feeling...

Re: CAA Playoffs - Game 1 vs UNCW
Northeastern has been hounding Talley all night and they're blowing them out. I realize they don't have a shutdown defender like Occeus but if Hofstra adjusted just a little in the second half last night they probably would have won comfortably. Don't think they would have won tonight but they shou...

Re: CAA Playoffs - Game 1 vs UNCW
You have to give Talley some credit. He shot over 50% from the floor and 50% from three. That’s not all on the defense. That’s a senior stepping up. Sure, we can give Talley credit. The guy played with all heart, put his team on his back and won the game basically by himself. The problem from an HU...

Re: Wanted: Coaches
I've disliked the CAA for a very long time. It's been a bad fit for Hofstra. However, there aren't any better options locally. I don't want the MAAC, the NEC or the AE again. The only intriguing league is the Patriot league but we can't get in. The CAA has definitely been up for grabs the last few y...

Re: CAA Playoffs - Game 1 vs UNCW
Talley was really the only player who could beat us last night especially after Cacock picked up some quick fouls and beat us he did. One would have thought that we would have put someone or two on Talley to make his night long and miserable, but we always stay on formula and let the other coaches ...

Re: Wanted: Coaches
Why is everyone clamoring for Speedy when he IS ONE of the coaches you want out of here. What do you think he is doing every day in practice? How many of you guys have ACTUALLY BEEN TO A PRACTICE to see what is worked on and HOW the players respond to it. Defense is all about EFFORT, sure you need ...

Re: Wanted: Coaches
It's gotten us exactly what TP got us. The idea that you replace a coach that teaches defense incompetently with a coach who teaches offense incompetently is stupid and pointless. Hey everyone is entitled to their opinion but I disagree. After watching TP's style all of those years and now watching...

Re: Wanted: Coaches
Will Joe ever coach this team to a 26-5 record with an RPI under 30 in a league with VCU, GMU and ODU?? Because that's what TP accomplished. Just saying.. And that was with a completely different team than the great roster he put together at the time of his departure. Yeah TP couldn't coach offense,...

Re: CAA Playoffs - Game 1 vs UNCW
Oh FRIG that, if this program agrees to one of those tourneys I will stop support and call for everyone here and everyone I know to do the same. That would be absolutely 110% bush league embarrassing. They missed the mark, end of season, end of story. NO BS TOURNEYS. PERIOD. I will not attend a CBI...

Re: Wanted: Coaches
I never thought I would say this, but I'd take TP back. His teams defended, took charges, dove for loose balls etc. That would be refreshing to see.. I also read recently that he admitted leaving Hofstra was the biggest mistake he ever made and that he regrets it tremendously. I guess he realized wh...

Re: CAA Playoffs - Game 1 vs UNCW
This is as bad as it gets. Think about the big picture. We just lost to a team that graduated Flemmings and Ingram. Lost their great coach (Keatts), and his recruits, and lost a great player who transferred when the coach left (CJ Bryce).. On the other hand, our program was intact, fully loaded... A...

Re: HU Mens Hoops Appreciation and Kudos Thread!
We've all given the program in one way or another some tough love, especially after losses. It's all tough love from me if and when I have a criticism with a player or coach. At the end of day, I want to see them cut down the nets more than anyone. My expectations are always high because that is th...

FD, was thinking the same thing about the finals if they make it.. Polito, I am with you on the NCAA's.. If and whenever they make it, I am there. Pretty sure Cactus will be too..

Re: Media Thread
Cactus is correct. Bernardi declined slightly each year for whatever reason. I thought he had Antoine Agudio potential after his sophomore season so the expectations were high, but it didn't pan out. Can't knock his effort though. Glad we had him those 3 years, just wished he had maximized his poten...

Re: MBB Recruits 2018
Just saw on twitter that we offered a 6'10 Aussie, Hal Hughes. He is a HS SR out of PA. He is described as an ultra skilled sharp shooting forward who can play multiple positions. William and Mary is also showing interest. That is all of the twitter info I was able to find. Could not find any more i...

Re: CAA Tournament Seeding and Tiebreakers
I don't think we have a shot at NIT this year with an RPI around 100. Charleston would get the auto bid if they lose conference tourney. I'd say NE will probably get the NIT bid if Charleston wins the league. As for the UNCW matchup, there's no need to look back at the last game. As I previously sta...
