Re: MBB recruits 2015

I agree Anders, but I'm just thinking short term right now. Next year the CAA will be a 1 bid league with or without Lee and McGlynn. It's our opportunity to win the league. Northeastern was a 14 playing ND this year. I'm hoping our OOC will be much stronger next year so that if we do win the league...

Re: MBB recruits 2016

According to twitter, we are in NC today looking at a few prospects for this '16 class. Raequan Scott, Orlando Robinson and Jahlil Carter. Didn't find much else about these guys, only that Winthrop looked at them yesterday. All has been quiet for the remaining 2 spots for this year's class. Hope to ...

Re: MBB recruits 2015

Maryland is all over Damion Lee. I dont care where he goes, just get him out of the CAA. Makes things a little easier for Hofstra.

Re: Tom Pecora

Speedy is Mr. Hofstra, so I'd be surprised if he bolted to St. John's, especially if he is the potential HC in waiting here. That would not be the case at SJU. And I haven't seen his name mentioned anywhere at all for Mullin's staff. It's looking like Mullin will take his best bud who is the top ass...

Re: Hofstra vs. Kentucky in 2016?

Would love to see it. Have nothing to lose. If they get crushed, it was supposed to happen. Or maybe we can give them a game like Columbia did this year. Either way, it would be nice to see Hofstra play in front of a large crowd. I remember sitting high up in the Coliseum when we knocked off St John...

Re: Tom Pecora

I still think we had the best team in the CAA in '06. Hofstra was the only team in the country that had 5 different players score 25 pts in a game. If we didn't have the best roster from top to bottom, we certainly had the best starting 5. Also finished with an RPI of 30, so not sure how deluded we ...

Re: MBB recruits 2015

I like the direction we are going in based on the early rumblings for the spring signing period. This team is in win now mode with Green entering his senior season. I'd like to add some upperclassmen who can contribute right away, whether its the JUCO route (Alcegaire) or a graduate player who can p...

Re: MBB Game 34 - CBI - Vermont - 3/18/15, 7 PM

POP, that's frustrating to read. And to me, advertising on and off campus is our biggest problem. I like Hathaway as AD so far. But I hope they ramp up their efforts in this department next season.

Re: Tom Pecora

Evan, what does the point spread have to do with being down 25 in a championship game? I know UNCW was a good team, so what? A day earlier, Hofstra defeated a team that was about to go on a run to the FINAL FOUR. Maybe just maybe, Pecora allowed his team to keep in the back of their minds that they ...

Re: MBB Game 34 - CBI - Vermont - 3/18/15, 7 PM

HH, there are plenty of smaller schools with less talent that draw more students and more students with enthusiasm. Juan'ya Green might not be in that class of Hofstra guards you mentioned, but he's only a notch below. And he was spectacular in Baltimore. But the students wouldn't know that because ...

Re: Tom Pecora

It was the game after the Skinn punch, but it was not a factor against Wilmington. Stokes had 26 pts and 7 rebs in the title game. And was a huge part of the furious comeback late in the 2nd half. I think they went on a 30-7 run to get it to a one possession game, but they got no closer. Stokes was ...

Re: Tom Pecora

Never said it should have been an easy win. Point spread meant nothing going into that game. They had 26 wins and an RPI of 30. They were too good to ever be down by 25 to any team on their schedule that year, let alone the conference title game on national TV with the selection committee watching. ...

Re: Tom Pecora

ZMAN, I disagree with some of your points. He didn't leave the cupboard bare? He set the program back 2 years with his departure. He told Chaz and Halil to leave because they were "A-10" players. And he took his incoming class (Frazier, Dominique etc) with him. IMO, he could not have cared...

Re: MBB Game 34 - CBI - Vermont - 3/18/15, 7 PM

It's really hard to blame the students, when they do show up and they have to watch a crappy performance from their team time after time. To be fair, how many of them truly follow the team during road games like we do? So all they know is what they see in person, and that hasn't been much. How many...

Re: Tom Pecora

TP was foolish to go to Fordham, and foolish to go the year he would have had a starting 5 of Chaz, Charles, Moore, Halil, and GW here. That team would have done special things.

Re: MBB Game 34 - CBI - Vermont - 3/18/15, 7 PM

This game was borderline fixed.. That's how bad the officiating was. No more CBI's for Hofstra please. In a moment of weakness, I wanted to play in this tournament after the heartbreak in Baltimore. But tonight reminded me of the last CBI experience 5 years ago when I walked out of the arena feeling...

Re: CIT & CBI Selection Thread

I'll be there and from what I remember from the America East days, Vermont always brought a decent amount of fans to Hofstra. I’ll be interested to see what impact the shot clock change to 30 seconds will have. This should suit Hofstra well. We are comfortable with this tempo offensively, and hey we...

Re: CIT & CBI Selection Thread

The NIT selection show is on at 8:30. So once that bracket is completed, I think we will see something official from the CBI/CIT tournaments.. I guess Colorado St is this year's '06 Hofstra. They were 27-6 with an RPI of 30, yet somehow teams like UCLA and Ole Miss with a 55 RPI get in.. Also, North...

Re: CIT & CBI Selection Thread

No details on hosting or who the opponent is yet. It was Brian Bernardi's dad who tweeted Hofstra is playing in the CBI!

I'm usually not a fan of these tournaments, but I'm glad this team can play again. Hate to have a season end the way it did in Baltimore.
