Re: Hofstra MBB 2024-2025 Schedule and Opponents
Has anyone heard anything further on the Bahamas Tournament? Is that confirmed? I checked the tournament website and it only has Iona and Arkansas State listed, which is just 6 of 8. Given the travel involved and the Thanksgiving Holiday one would thing this would not be so unresolved at this point...

Re: Hofstra MBB 2024-2025 Schedule and Opponents
Looks like we're starting a home and home series with Quinnipiac. On top of that just being the Pecorra reunion, he's turned them into a top team in the MAAC. Thats a nice add to the non conference slate

And looking at the box score, Tyler finally got in a game and scored tonight too

Re: Hofstra MBB 2024-2025 Schedule and Opponents
So it appears it took all of 1 yr of Pitino for St John's to start ducking us again. Maybe we should intentionally get blown out by them on occasion so they wouldn't be afraid to schedule us...

Re: Next Year's Team
Seeing reports that we lost assistant coach Serge Clement to Tony Skinn and George Mason of all places.
To the guys here more dialed in to the day to day of the program... that's a fairly significant loss right?

Looks like we may have our first marquee game of the upcoming schedule with another crack at Houston... should have won that game a couple yrs ago!

Re: Projected MBB Starters for the 24-25 Season
I know cbb and the nba are basically two entirely different sports, but watching the Knicks tonight I just feel like this stat from nba playoffs needs to be mentioned in regards to whatever the lineup is next season... teams are 51-13 this nba postseason when winning the rebounding battle. Do we hav...

Re: NCAA 2024 MBB Transfer Portal
For those keeping score, Moe Odum wound up staying in the WCC and committed to Pepperdine over the weekend. He would have been a nice get for us, but very happy we were able to land Jaquan Sanders with that last spot instead.

Re: NCAA 2024 MBB Transfer Portal
Saw that Amar'e Marshall wound up going back to Albany in the end. Pretty surprising that neither we nor any other team at a higher level was interested in him after the numbers he put up last season. Can't imagine Albany suddenly came up with some sort of NIL package to keep him, wonder what it is ...

Re: Next Year's Team
is it me or on paper we could possibly have a better team? I think it's hard to say we're better when we don't have a single player on the roster who's ever averaged 10 pts or 3 ast in a season before, and the only guy who's ever averaged over 5 reb did so 2 yrs ago. But on paper we're certainly de...

Speaking of Northeastern, they also just added another player with a bit of a hofstra connection... Jacco Fritz's younger brother Youri, who also started his career at Canisius

Re: NCAA 2024 MBB Transfer Portal
In agreement feels like the 3 locks to start from the transfers would be Cruz Davis, Jaquan Sanders, and Gadsden, with one of Sunday/Graham obviously at the 5. So the real positional/philosophical battle then may come down to Aranguren at 6'3 190lbs vs German at 6'6 197lbs for the final starter. Ara...

Re: NCAA 2024 MBB Transfer Portal
So it appears we've gone in a different direction from Odum. Jaquan Sanders from Seton hall just committed. Didn't play much for them, but appears to be a good shooter. Solid size for a guard at 6'4 205. Seems like a good get!

So is Odum still coming? Thought all the buzz was he would get announced over the weekend.
Also know there had been some talk here about the Traore brothers.... Drissa (from st johns) just committed to Rhode Island

It's a good clue! He just made all freshman in '22-'23 not this past season

Re: NCAA 2024 MBB Transfer Portal
White leaving is massive news for the caa. But not gonna lie makes me pretty happy to see that even uncw can't afford to keep their best players. I wish it wasn't this way, but as long as it is just hope for Hofstra to be on a level playing field with the rest of the conference (besides Charleston o...

Re: Next Year's Team
Hearing it's another NY kid, a PG, who was on the all-freshman team in his conference, who will round out the roster. Looks like Speedy's plan is to go after transfers from NY who want to play near home then have the opportunity to follow an Estrada path. This sounds a lot like Moe Odum, who is sup...

Another New Yorker comes home. I'm all for adding NYC players to our team. How about 2 new Yorkers in 1 day?! https://twitter.com/jeffborzello/status/1782853472980734410?t=8Vi1O6p3x74VmZ-liNL_wA&s=19 Based on his height but guard profile, would guess Speedy is planning for this kid to fill Duba...

Re: Next Year's Team
So Michael Graham isn't exactly the most exciting addition as a big, but if we're looking for sneaky upside I'd go back to him averaging 9.3 pts and 6.8 reb in 20 min a night starting every game for Elon in '21-'22 as a potential indicator of what we could be getting over his stats at LMU the last 2...

Amari Williams landed at Kentucky. CAA continues to be a major pipeline for the elite programs. Just off the top of my head in the last few years.. - Michigan St (Tyson walker) - Kentucky (williams) - Kansas (timberlake) - Alabama (estrada) - Tennessee (dubar) - Syracuse (jyare davis) - St John's (c...
