Juan'ya and Summer League

I would have bet a lot of money that he'd be playing summer league SOMEWHERE this year, but it doesn't appear it's going to happen... http://www.midmajormadness.com/2016/6/29/12051476/2016-nba-summer-league-mid-major-players-on-summer-rosters There's still plenty of time for a pick-up, but it's a bi...

Re: MBB recruits 2016

Would take this guy in a heartbeat. With JAM's great track record and experience with smaller school guys, this guy fits the mold of the 3/4 we're always in need of.

Re: MBB recruits 2016

Anyone else getting a bit nervous about these last few schollies? It's starting to look a bit like slim pickings out there... Carrying over a few to next year wouldn't be the end of the world, as I think we have a strong roster for next season as it is. I just don't expect as good of a season this u...

Re: MBB recruits 2016

PJ, Butler bound - Jon Rothstein Came here to say Northeastern was off the board, as they just took a similar commitment from Vasa Pusica, a sophomore SG from University of San Diego. Looks more like he was their plan B, and they closed him down after PJ came off the board. Here's hoping we have a ...

Re: MBB recruits 2016

I assume he's being pitched on sitting a year, and then moving right into Bernardi's role, which is a great pitch! It's basically what Bernardi is doing (left a higher-level program with limited contribution to become the man here). We'd love to have him be a leader on this team. The team also poste...

Re: MBB recruits 2017

Time for 2017 recruiting to start heating up a bit too... Wouldn't mind adding another Roberto Gittens to the program!

‏@VerbalCommits
2017 Foss (WA) G Roberto Gittens has received an offer from Hofstra.

Re: MBB recruits 2016

This is an interesting one-- he seemed to have committed to The Citadel back in December, but requested/was granted his release just a month later after some terrible, racially charged incidences at the school-- https://www.washingtonpost.com/sports/highschools/after-citadel-white-hoods-incident-hoo...

Re: MBB recruits 2016

In my opinion, some more proven scoring from the 2/3 position would be ideal, and would most likely come from a grad transfer. We have a lot of talent at the 2/3, but it's young or unproven. I'd love a grad transfer who could come in and either start at the 3, or come off the bench at either positio...

Tough timing for an attempted (impressively so) April fools joke, Stu-- although you did make me have to check google/twitter to confirm ;-)

Re: MBB recruits 2016

This is a really interesting one! 4-star recruit who seems to be able to play the 1 or the 2-- big guard for either position at our level. Still majorly developing on the offensive end, but just a ton of potential and a type of athlete/recruit HU wouldn't normally see straight from HS. We'd still ha...

Re: MBB recruits 2016

Such a perfect signing by JAM and the crew! Lengthy and athletic stretch 3/4 who put up good numbers at a good program!

http://www.njcaa.org/sports/mbkb/2015-1 ... egreerobhb

Gotta respect grabbing a 6'7'' guy who can shoot 40% from 3 and grab 7 rebounds a game-- Great stuff!!

With Chris Flemmings as a Junior walk-on (no scholarship), could he transfer freely to another program without sitting out a year?

Re: MBB @ George Washington 3/14 8PM

Two thoughts-- First, I'm optimistic about the reload. JM not only has minutes to dole out, but a strong, recent track record of giving transfers (both grad year and earlier) opportunities and success with our team. Here's highlights of his transfer resume since coming to Hofstra just 3 years ago-- ...

Re: MBB recruits 2016

A bunch of mumbles lately on kids transferring-- Where is this coming from?? Aside from AW, I would be very surprised to see anyone transfer this offseason. JWF is getting off the bench on a soon-to-be 20 win team as a freshman, as part of a winning program that loses 4 contributors after this year....

This would be a huge get. Don't want to be a downer, but it looks like the majors are already offering... "Due to his polished counters moves with his back to the basket and precise touch, it would seem that Dembele is one of the better back to the rim guys still available late in the year, hen...

Re: MBB vs. Elon, 1/28

Anyone else feel like we're underestimating Elon a bit right now? They have wins @Charlotte, @JMU, and @CofC. They also gave us a great game last time we played. I think we'll win, and I'm going to the game, but I'm just surprised that people are referring to this as a cupcake game. At this point in...

Re: MBB attendance VS performance

I think it all comes down to sustained success, and always will. I remember packing the old gym during Speedy's first years, and then packing the Mack for the AE finals. It's no coincidence that our last major sustained attendance runs were 1998-2001, and 2004-2006. Those were dominant, winning year...

Re: MBB vs. Sacred Heart - 12/28/15, 7 PM

The team looks lifeless at times out there. Probably exhausted from too many minutes...tough to maintain defensive intensity that way. And fatigue leads to injuries...could be a dangerous cycle. If fatigue is an issue then how do you explain all of our late game comebacks and better defensive effor...
